Re: Doing all the right things but not getting W10 showing in install
OK. I guess I have to look into the BIOS for my solution?

Re: Doing all the right things but not getting W10 showing in install
Hmmm... Well... I actually exclusively use Linux but occasionally I have had to use a non-VirtualBox Windows. Generally, if I can get away with using (when necessary like for work) a Windows application, I'll do so in VirtualBox. But it's always handy to have Windows using the full resources of my h...

Re: Doing all the right things but not getting W10 showing in install
OK. All that is well and good, but will I still be able to boot into Windows if I want to? My biggest fear is related to the dual boot aspect. I've done installs in the past where I lost the dual booting capability and I had to do some crazy third-party work around to have both OSs. As for installin...

Re: Doing all the right things but not getting W10 showing in install
At the moment I haven't got a /home partition. I've just got a home folder in the Linux ext4 partition. I want to do a fresh install (without wiping the Windows partition or rendering the Windows OS inoperable or unbootable). I have an empty partition of about 800GB available to me which I want to u...

Re: Doing all the right things but not getting W10 showing in install
But I want to put my home directory on another (waaaay bigger) partition. Will an in-place upgrade give me the option of changing my home directory?

Re: Doing all the right things but not getting W10 showing in install
Just to clarify:
I can actually boot into either Windows or Linux. I want to install a new Linux system (Ulyssa to replace Ulyana).
Are you saying that when I run the installation for the new Linux, I will see Windows showing up in the installation wizard?

Doing all the right things but not getting W10 showing in install
Greetings, I've been wanting to install Mint 20.1 Ulyssa for some time now on my desktop PC. I want it to be a dual boot system with Windows 10. Ulyana is the existing Linux installation and when I proceeded to install Ulyssa, the installer doesn't show Windows 10, but it does show Ulyana. I looked ...

Re: [solved] Sound fades in
How does one port to GTK 3?? Is it overly technical that requires years of study or can one teach oneself in a relatively short time?

Re: [solved] Sound fades in
Indeed. I'm a bit miffed (putting it lightly) that many of the themes I had used up till 17.3 are now impossible to use with Compiz. I miss those Mac Aqua themes with the pearly blue buttons (with wobbly windows)!! Is there any indication that the Mint boys are getting their act together any time so...

Re: [solved] Sound fades in
Hi MrEen: Thanks for your reply. I'll keep these things in mind should I encounter any misbehaviour from the beast. There's quite a few things about the more recent iterations of Mint that leave me scratching my head and wondering about what the hell is going on. I guess the mint 17.3 benchmark has ...

Re: [solved] Sound fades in
Hi: I've been having issues with annoying short (ca. 1 sec.) fade-ins after a few seconds of silence in audio files (I'm using language teaching materials) and so the spoken material in those files isn't fully uttered for the students to hear - most annoying!!! I followed the tips in this thread and...

Re: Linux Mint 17.x reaches end of life in April
UEFI is an open standard, I doubt anybody has any side-deals, that doesn't appear plausible. But LM 19.1 supports installing with secure boot enabled so just give it a try. :) I did so and I'm pleased to say that, so far, all has gone well. It works! :D My brief dalliance with Opensuse was interest...
