Re: Login loop for password protected user account

Problem solved! Many thanks to you, sir!

Your suggestion did the trick and I can log in to that account.

Re: Login loop for password protected user account

Hmmm... I don't recall ever encrypting that user account or home folder. The protected account is not my main account and I created the protected account through "Users and Groups" ('m using the Mate edition). But I'll give what you suggest a go and see how we fare.

Re: Login loop for password protected user account

No luck in solving the issue. But I did follow the instructions and got the message about a keyring...

I even did a remove (rm) command on the ICE and Xauthority file in the protected account only to be informed that those files don't exist in that account.

[SOLVED] Login loop for password protected user account

Greetings I have four user accounts on my PC, three of which have no password login and one with a password login. Today I wanted to login to that account requiring a password and I end up getting a login loop. The other three accounts login fine without any issue. I even removed old, unused kernels...

Re: Font changes in themes, etc.

Hmmm.... I'll give that a go.

But what I don't understand is why it initially worked but then refused to about half an hour later. For me, it's just much easier to play around with my home folder than with system folders.

I'll give your suggestion a whirl....

Re: Font changes in themes, etc.

Many thanks for the reply. I'll have a look at the link. As for the theme I was testing, initially everything worked and the Mate Appearance Settings asked me if I wanted to change to the "suggested font". The fonts were installed in the place where they were supposed to be (i.e., home_fol...

Font changes in themes, etc.

Greetings and salutations: I've been tinkering around with themes on my Mate desktop (LM 20.1) and was playing with the Font and BackfroundImage settings to change the font to Chicago with a Macintosh style background. I've been trying to create a late 1990s style Mac theme. This is my index.theme f...

Re: Mint 20.1 Mate - howto set color of active window titlebar

Hi, Bertelh09: I think the settings you are needing to adjust are not found in the index.theme file. If you are using the Mate desktop, then you will have to open up the .xml file in the Metacity folder of the theme in question. I've been on a learning curve in the last two or three months with thes...

Code for Caja background color change?

Salutations: I'm curious about whether, for themes in Mate, it is possible to include a line of code in an index.theme file so as to change the background colour or background graphic in Caja whenever one changes the theme. Or would one need to include a piece of CSS code in the GTK3 CSS theme file?...

[SOLVED] Weird desktop experience of disappearing icons, etc.

Ever since I installed Mint 20 Mate desktop, for the first few weeks, I had a reasonably trouble-free time setting things up and adapting to the new GTK3 regime. Only recently I've been experiencing my desktop going somewhat crazy with the icons disappearing and having no mouse interactivity with th...

[SOLVED] Doing all the right things but not getting W10 showing in install

Greetings once more. Regarding this issue I've been having with switching between UEFI and legacy for the BIOS, I'm happy to announce that I've managed to finally be able to do so and get Windows to show up in the live Linux install. BIOSes seem to speak different languages and I was able to finally...

Re: Doing all the right things but not getting W10 showing in install

Hmmm... Well... I actually exclusively use Linux but occasionally I have had to use a non-VirtualBox Windows. Generally, if I can get away with using (when necessary like for work) a Windows application, I'll do so in VirtualBox. But it's always handy to have Windows using the full resources of my h...
