I changed Bios settings so that DVD is last on the boot list. And that did not stop the computer accessing DVD. And i also think on boot up the selected OS looks into all other partitions on my hard drive. Have 13 other partition. They are two windows seven partitions, and the rest are mint 18.2's a...

i noticed on boot up, i hear my dvd drive being accessed like crazy. The dvd has a windows game that i always keep in the drive.
So why does the OS try to access the dvd through out boot up??? I ask my self.

Hit the keys cntl+alt+f8
If that did not work
try starting your x server with this command:

sudo mdm

or:

sudo restart mdm


or:

sudo service mdm start

mdm work for me and I am using Mate, may be it will work with cinnoman.

"X server" is color graphics interface.

Hi again. Make sure that window not your boot partition. From a terminal type: fdisk -l -l is lower case -L. If you see a " * ", that is an astrus, or star next to sda1 and that is your windows partition. You will have to change it over to your Mint partition. So you will have Mint as you boot parti...

If you are not using a laptop but a tower there is a back to bios button on the back of the tower.
