Why would you?
"Seemed like a good idea at the time."

Once when I was young and more foolish, I went swimming only 10 minutes after eating a hot dog just to see what it was like to "live on the edge".

Re: show files on a partition ?

shows SSD but info warning = file system unknown type = msdos. Windows file manager allows you to look at ALL files on any drive or partition. Is there a Linux equivalent ? You should be able to (double) click on stuff under "Places" or "Devices". If it's not there, you might have an error, i.e. th...

I think it's the high-side of normal - do you have plenty of extensions? KDE also likes memory.

Is Cinnamon trying to go the fast and easy way to create shiny UIs while destroying the performance of the system ?
You got me. I use fluxbox, written in C++, uses about 10M memory and responds instantly.

Re: copy from one hard drive to another

Both disks show formatted on Ext4. how do I do this " mount the sdb1 partition to a mountpoint"? Sorry but I am not very technical but I am good at finding answers. I have two hard drives. the sda 1 contains Mint Cinnamon 19.1 and Dell boot info. The other one, sdb-1, is entirely formatted in Ext4 ...

Re: Move the Home directory into the root partition

It's better to have /home as a directory under "/", not in its own partition, and store non-OS data on a OS-independent data partition. The installers don't make that an option, but they should. Another good reason for /home=directory, is that when you backup the OS you also backup your settings whi...

Re: Firefox with rounded tabs: a solution

Just to be clear: "Firefox with rounded tabs: a solution" means making the tabs rounded , not a solution to rounded tabs (which I hate) by making their corners square, correct? (the github page also hinted at it without actually saying so). I mention that because I have a custom .css file which mess...

Re: Move the Home directory into the root partition

I have then replaced in the fstab the UUID of the Home partition, which now it is the same as the root partition. If /home is a directory under "/" (in the same partition) - which is what you wanted to accomplish(?) - it shouldn't have an entry in fstab . You might be mounting the partition to two ...

Thanks Flemur, that is very much appreciated. Re: I have zero knowledge on color calibration, while watching any video the disturbance in color is so difficult to uns

A test: boot from the LiveMedia (or...is Windows still on it? Then boot windows) and see if you get the same banding (just look at the grayscale image in this post). If the problem is not there, it's a software issue on your install - rry reinstalling the video drivers.

Has anyone else had this problem, or can anyone recommend a solution? I had a weird time problem, and ended up making /etc/localtime be the actual zone file itself rather than a link to it(**), and deleting all the time zone stuff under /usr/share/zoneinfo. https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.ph...
