Re: How to downgrade from Thunderbird 64 to 60 or 52

Is is possible and/or advisable to downgrade Thunderbird 64 to Thunderbird 60 or older? I really do not like thunderbird 64. owa You can get it here: https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/releases/ I install firefox from the same place (/thunderbird -> /firefox). Uninstall the regular thunderbird...

Re: A silent screen-shot !

I also use scrot, like this (silent save of entire screen):

Code: Select all

scrot scrot.'%Y.%m.%d_%H.%M.%S.png' -e 'mv $f /mnt/DATA/download/'
And Ctrl + Print-screen runs

Code: Select all

xfce4-screenshooter
which brings up a GUI - sometimes you need that (set the delay time) to capture the mouse pointer or menus.

Re: WHAT FILE HAS THE MINT DEFAULT RUN LEVEL?

Fair enough, so I went looking for it. Not to be found. Searched web, no dice. So where does Mint hide the default run level? Doesn't the grub menu already give you an option for "maintenance mode" or some such language, where you boot into a console w/o X running? If not.... I make my grub menu by...

Re: Too long boot time

Also do not judge your blame results based on first boot, but after a subsequent reboot Yes, I checked blame output on next reboot. Still NetworkManager-wait-online.service is present even after disabling it on previous boot. Some of them come back - in this case it *might* be because you've enable...

Re: Speed up/Clean up

In an attempt to "speed up my Linux", I opened a site which is supposed to help me do that. Unfortunately, the first set of instructions that I read with the idea of executing read as follows: " Clear the updates cache 2. Launch Synaptic Package Manager. That won't speed up linux. What is the myste...

Re: Removing tons of fonts !

I imagine it is because I block fingerprinting at all vectors and site sees nothing but a couple stock fonts present so tries to serve them from remote? I dunno. That css code I got the font names from is just a solid block of uncommented text (boo!) .... with a parameter ("36", IIRC) passed in the...

IIRC, get to the OK button with TAB and/or arrow keys. It'll hi-light, then hit carriage-return (enter).

Edit: I just ran it. Use left/right arrow keys or TAB to get to OK

Re: Removing tons of fonts !

seems I'm missing something needed for webpages? (it may be due to my blocking remote fonts in browsers though)) :? I get that exact thing if I filter this forum with uBlock-origin and "Block remote fonts" set - are you doing that? IIRC from another thread, it's the "awesome" icon/symbol font. Edit...

Re: Favicons Missing in Firefox Bookmarks

Try
about:config
and search for favicon.

Edit: I think it's
browser.shell.shortcutFavicons
(I don't like favicons and that set to false so they don't show in bookmarks, on firefox 62).

Not sure I can access 18.3 folders from 19.1.
How to do that?
In one OS (e.g. 18.3) you should see the partition for the other OS (e.g. 19.1) under "Places" or some such. Double-click to access it.

Also do what JerryF said.

Re: I have accidentaly write linux file on windows drive - what to do?

sudo e2fsck -b 32768 /dev/sdc e2fsck is NOT for ntfs partitions. You're probably better off checking the partition in windows or with a windows repair disk. $ man e2fsck e2fsck - check a Linux ext2/ext3/ext4 file system is not working either... Rather than tell what didn't happen, it's more useful ...

Re: I have accidentaly write linux file on windows drive - what to do?

Simply writing a linux file to an ntfs partition won't hurt anything. If you mounted without windows_names then it just might. Maybe. https://www.tuxera.com/community/open-source-ntfs-3g/ Windows Filename Compatibility "NTFS supports several filename namespaces: DOS, Win32 and POSIX. While the ntfs...

Is it possible to migrate the OS in Linux or am I better off just reinstalling on the new ssd?
