I use NEFIS WF2190 usb Wi-Fi adaptor.
I need to remove the rtl8812au driver or disable it.
This might help:

Re: Installing VirtualBox

More complex programs which require a complex installation in Windows seem to run badly or not at all with WINE so I am looking into the possibility of installing Virtualbox and running Windows in it. That depends on the program. I run Photoshop and Audition under wine, neither are trivial programs...

Re: Isolate the most essential files required for a normal boot? [SOLVED]

I install all apps and put all data and everything I possibly can on other partitions. That's easy to do with data, including the configurations/custom-whatevers for your programs. For the programs themselves, not really; a nice exception is firefox, which you can install in a sort of "portable app...

I have a feeling it's a service, I just haven't proved it yet.
Didja check for the service?

Code: Select all

systemctl list-unit-files | grep enabled
Look thru the output for something related to "team viewer".

Re: Audacity...need, or already have, LAME in Mint

First, what and where is synaptic? Ity might be called "Package Manager" or something similar in your menus, or gksudo synaptic Second, when I go to terminal and enter the code snippet you suggested, here is what I get. Now what? Run audacity - it's probably already installed - from the menu or, in...

Re: Audacity...need, or already have, LAME in Mint

Question: In Windows after installing Audacity I had to install a utility called LAME for Audacity to work right. Is that required in Audacity for Linux Mint as well, and is it bundled in the Audacity that came with Mint, or do I have to go get it and install it? It should already have all the requ...

Re: Clonezilla will not clone partition

The partition in question which is 460GB big, is where all my personal data (videos, photographs, images and all other documents) are saved so the quantity of data in it is gradually growing larger. I would like to know what I can do to it to get Clonezilla to clone it without having to resort to w...

Re: How do I prevent a program from auto-starting?

That's the kind of program I use ONLY on-demand... I DO NOT want it ( Anydesk ) running 24x7 in the background. I feel your pain. There should be a "Startup Applications" in your menu; if you're lucky, it'll be listed there. Also check ~/.config/autostart for *.desktop files. Edit: to see the enabl...

I have installed Memory-Map viewer via WINE ... I cannot access the internet from this program.
Can you access the internet with any other wine program?

Here's the wine "app database" for Memory Map:

Mint Cinnamon 18.3
That problem shows up here fairly often - and it's usually, if not almost always, Cinnamon/nemo.
Using the simple two-pane "xfe" file browser apparently solved it for at least one person, or you could copy with "cp" in a terminal.

Re: After update Firefox doesn't remember settings

Doesn't seem to be a terminal command, it's not in the "help" option in the start menu or update manager? It's all in firefox: if you have the menu-bar, click "Help"; if you don't have the menu-bar, click the three lines (in upper-right, sometimes they call it a "hamburger") to bring up a menu. "He...

Re: confused over Terminal use

You might need to mount it (before you can "cd" to it) - just double-click on the likely-looking name under "Places", or with your file browser under Places or Devices (or rt-click->menu); here's what my USB partitions look like:

But the "sudo blkid" should show it before it's mounted.

I do not have to tell my OS, hm, rather my graphical file-manager, The file manager is using the system-wide mime associations pr...

Re: Firefox problem after updating

I've managed to open Firefox from the Terminal & have attached the output as suggested.Errors.odt My OS wants to open that file with "file-roller" and shows me a list of files rather than error messages. The proper way to show the output is to copy it from the terminal, paste the text here and encl...

Re: Firefox problem after updating

going from Firefox 58.0.2 to 60.0.1 My FF v60 ESR had a screwed-up password manager (would either do nothing, or put the password in the 'username' box) and it also seemed to cause "video downloadhelper" to download videos from a background tab, but using the file names from the foreground tab. I tried this, which doesn't work: mate-terminal -e "node /home/chris/.SMLoadr/SMLoadr.js" Any idea how I can do this? It sounds simple, and it should be simple, but it's a bit of a PITA. For instance... File "aaa" is executable and in my PATH, and is: echo $HOME ls -l $HOME xfce4-terminal -e="aaa" ...

Re: Sound level 100% and yet too quiet...

The only problem is the change is not persistent. Whenever I reboot, I have to do it again because master-volume is down to -25dB. Could this be somehow fixed too? A "hack" is to set the audio when you login, namely run something like: That's a line from my "make the audio civilized" script that ru...
