I mean that when I try to transfer music, videos, or large files from my external hard drive to this laptop—no matter their size—I am unable to and a warning pops up telling me that there's not enough room on the hard drive. I get the "Error while copying to "Videos" warning and the message telling...

a 256 GB SSD but it has less than 60 GB of stuff in it (mostly music) and it won't let me add anything at all while giving me a warning that there isn't enough room on the hard drive. What is "it" and exactly what is the error message? Your partition (plus swap) and home directory look OK. What out...

Re: Help with fstab entries please

I would like to put my Virtualbox virtual machines in a separate partition on my laptop. I did that the simple way: - create it normally. - copy it (the VM file of 5-10GB or so) to where you want it (on a different partition). - edit an existing XML file - which points to the old VM - to point to w...

Did you view it online or download it? I get sound viewing online but the problem is after i download it!
I can play it fine in vlc and smplayer and the audio is good and clear.

If all else fails, open the downloaded mp4 file in your browser. It plays in firefox.

Re: home and additional folder problem

I rename (so it can't be found by wine)
~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32/winemenubuilder.exe
to prevent wine from adding menu items (and IIRC .desktop files in file associations).

Sorry if these screenshots are not the best way of doing things but have really struggled to copy these results It's really easy. There is a link below each video to download it so it can be viewed off-line. This I've done.

Re: Find Application Data Files, How To...

My Question: Is there way, under Linux and Android, to track the actions of the CL app as far as where it is storing files and where the files are stored as they are being played? There's lsof or lsof | grep program-name though it usually tells you more than you want to know (lists the open librari...

Re: Dacmagic plus usb is not seen

You must have updated the kernel because 18.3 doesn't ship with a 4.13 kernel. Did you install it because of meltdown stuff? Try booting from the previous kernel (assuming you didn't delete it). A good idea - I went back to 4.10 kernel because 4.13 kept giving me bogus messages about USB devices.

Re: OS Up-dates errors and video cutting

This is wrong. If the editing software is doing what it should, then it will completely decode and interpolate the frames into whole (progressive) frames for cutting. It will only need to re-encode on export. avidemux can do that, at least with certain formats. It'll reencode small chunks and copy ...

Re: Is it possible to install Linux onto the hard disk without deleting Windows Vista?

I think the motherboard does not support UEFI. That's good if true - but MAKE SURE. It matters. Partition N was just created with AOMEI Partition Assistant half an hour ago. That's big enough, but linux doesn't go on NTFS. But that's not a problem. You could choose "Alongside" install = it automagi...
