Re: Firefox 57 - Quantum

NoScript 10 may be "released", but as far as I'm concerned it is still totally BROKEN. That's a relief, I thought I'd gotten more brain damage all of a sudden, because all I could think was "what the unicorns is this thing supposed to be doing?" (Edit: I had removed "NoScri...

Indeed it does, so perhaps you could suggest a signal which works...on something. Anything.

I've tried many, and so far none work properly.

Re: Proper Shutdown of system

I get that also, and, FWIW and AFAIK, none of the "kill" or "pkill" options stop a program "nicely" And what can be a solution like? May be, some workaround? My work-around is to manually close all the programs - well, the ones where it matters - using the programs' GU...

Re: Proper Shutdown of system

But if I shut down system with usual Menu -> Shutdown -> Shutdown, programs are not closed properly! I get that also, and, FWIW and AFAIK, none of the "kill" or "pkill" options stop a program "nicely" = the same way as "File->Exit" or clicking the "Exit&...

Re: Start wine program

Good evening guys, I have a slight question, how do I start a Wine program automatically when I log in to Linux Mint? NOTE: The program would be "Internet Explorer" for a machine that is only with cameras, only works on it. Make a file, called, say "run_ie", somewhere in...

I was using around 8 or 10 addons in firefox < 57, but with 57 I'm using these: Lightbeam "Flash and Video Download" "Flash Video Downloader" "Self Destroying Cookies" "uBlock Origin" The only addon I really miss is "adblock + element blocker" becaus...

Re: How much memory do I need?

The biggest culprits seem to be big commercial sites with bunches of ads. I try and avoid them but sometimes it can't be helped. - I have 4G and extremely rarely use it all...it's been months... - what's your desktop? That makes a big difference; xfce < mate < cin < kde (more or less) for mem use. ...

"filesystem" = ext4, ntfs, fat32, etc. The way the partition is formatted.

You want him to... fix the alphabet? It's not a bug. There is nothing to fix. If you want it to come out on top (even if I can't understand why that matters) then change the name. Easy-peasy. If someone searches for "tor" and gets a bunch of non-tor answers, especially when they're return...

Re: Partitioning advice

I think my goal is to have around 20g of space allocated for distros That's what I use - data (mp3s, movies, and such) is elsewhere. Plenty of room for Mint 18.2 (=~5G). rest for programs that remain untampered with when i'm ready to try anew DE or distro. "programs that remain untampered with...

Re: Linking your Pictures Folder to another drive

The "rm" command will remove $HOME/Pictures and its contents, so watch out:

Code: Select all

rm -r ~/Pictures
ln -s /media/pepi/Pictures ~/Pictures

Re: What programs are there for this?

To start with I'd suggest:
rakarrack, hydrogen (drum machine) and audacity for recording and mixing. Then you won't need "jack".
In audacity check these settings for mixing w/o feedback: Transport -> (Overdub and Software playthrough)

Re: What programs are there for this? = guitar effects

Guitar effects:
"guitarix" - requires "jack".
"rakarrack" is better.

Edit - mixing:
ardour or ardour3 for mixing.
