Make a video and play it back to see if it works?
Yes, that was the general idea. But I didn't know how.

How do I test my Laptop PC's built-in video web cam and mic on Mint 19.2?

Hi, I just installed Linux Mint 19.2 on my old Laptop PC. This laptop has a built-in video web cam and microphone hole at the top of the plastic monitor bezel frame surround. How do I test this camera and microphone to make sure Mint see's them and proves to me that all is working okay as it should ...

Re: Can I update my 18.3 version to 19.2 version by doing some sort of update?

You are all probably right. It's probably best to do a fresh, clean install. I think I'll go that route. I was hoping there is an easy way to do a big version jump without undoing all the tweaking I've done.

Can I update my 18.3 version to 19.2 version by doing some sort of update?

Is it possible to update my Linux Mint 18.3 Sylvia install up to the current 19.2 version just by doing some sort of online update, and if so, how? I don't want to accidentally lose all my current 18.3 settings, customizing, data and etc. but I would kind of like to update to version 19.2 of Linux M...

According to https://blog.linuxmint.com/?p=3795 the dev team are aiming for a Xmas release.
Thanks. How far down on the blog post does it literally say "aiming for an Xmas 2019 release"?

You should be able to use gparted to remove and create/format a partition.
Is gparted already installed on Linux Mint or do I need to download and install that? I searched in my Linux Mint menu, but I don't see it anywhere. Am I missing it anywhere?

Does that stick have a switch on it to make it read only? That could prevent you from deleting something. Also if you don't have permission on the file you can't delete it.

Code: Select all

ls -lh the-filename
No such switch on this stick.

Re: How do I delete old data off my USB stick drive?

Try this mintstick -m format That will bring up a gui popup with options. Does that stick have a switch on it to make it read only? That could prevent you from deleting something. Also if you don't have permission on the file you can't delete it. ls -lh the-filename Okay, I typed the "minstick -m f...

How do I delete old data off my USB stick drive?

Hi, I have a USB thumb drive which has some old data on it (an old .iso Linux installation image in this case) that seems to be permanently " etched " onto it. Is it even possible to have data permanently " etched " onto a USB stick drive? I wish I could delete it, but I can't figure out how. I thin...

Re: How do I watch 4K videos on YouTube?

Yes. The video's I'm currently viewing are available in 4K (2160p) as an option if you have the hardware and software at your disposal to do it. My current monitor is 24-inches but only goes up to 1080p. For example, I was watching this video in Japan shot in 4K: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mHFI...
