Same is happening here at random. One of several VPN connections will suddenly disappear. It happens on several systems. Mint 17.3 Cinnamon 64 bit.

Deleting .thumbnails from home directory and creating link named ~/.thumbnails to ~/.cache/thumbnails solved my problem. Right, this morning it went from 304.88 to 304.108 Wouldn't "apt-get remove nvidia-304" remove both of them? or do you need to do "apt-get remove nvidia-304.88"? I didn't specify .108 or .88, just 304. Apparently it removed both of them. I then rebooted and everything worked OK....

Same here, after doing normal updates this morning, 12/18. Get message that X server failed to start. Tried a couple of things googling around, no progress for me on this. Never had problem since Mint 13 first released.

I have to use Windows to update my Garmin Navigator Maps. It will only work with Windows Firefox and Oracle Virtualbox installed.
