Re: Edge tiling on MATE possible?

Regarding Compiz, I have no difference in CPU usage when it's active compared to when it's off. Neither on my netbook or main laptop.

Re: unable to format a bootable flash drive

Delete its partitions in GParted or, in Windows, go to Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Disk Management and then select your USB and delete all partitions.

Re: Blocking internet traffic

It's 3G modem so no luck there as with standard router.
I'm afraid that willpower is flat zero in his case so he's looking for something radical :D

Blocking internet traffic

My friend is having limited internet bandwidth, 5 GB per month only. Each GB over is kinda expensive but he's willing to go up to 12 GB top and when that mark is reached - to completely block internet access for the rest of that active month. First of all I thought vnstat is the right thing but it c...

You do realize that Cinnamon 1.4 is just a version of DE and not one complete OS, right?

Re: Looking for Light weight Linux for my old PC !! ??

New Xubuntu 13.04 is damn fast and stable. Fans runs calmer than Debian based systems on 3.2.x kernels. But I still prefer Debian based over anything that's Ubuntu based.

Re: Netbook constantly out of RAM: How much swap space neede

Same netbook here, 2 GB RAM too and I'm never out of RAM, even right now with 73 tabs opened in Firefox. Swappiness is 10, swap is 3 GB and it's using 37 MB at the moment including 1453 MB of RAM. Heck, I'm even using it for my job (graphic design) and I'm still never out of RAM. Of course, I never ...

Re: 16 Gig of RAM shows as 14 Gig on Linux Mint 14

That isn't exactly correct. FYP BIOS reports 16 GB. There's obviously 16 GB. Mint recognizes whatever amount is left after hardware takes its RAM share (audio, video, ports and connected devices, caches, registers, all of the software stuff, services and such...) Re: 16 Gig of RAM shows as 14 Gig on Linux Mint 14

Yes, it's normal but you most certainly don't need 32 GB swap -.-
Heck, you don't need it at all with 16 GB. I'm using just 2 GB with 8 GB RAM.
