Re: nvidia flatpak hell
Hi, The problem is, that as runtimes are updated the previous version is not removed. It seems that this, to some extent is intentional, 'just in case' they may be required at a later date. As you know, left in place they accumulate rapidly and massively. Having removed the Flatpak program that requ...

Re: nvidia flatpak hell
As to deleting all runtimes arbitrarily during the operation of terminal command 'flatpak uninstall --all --delete-data', I was offered a 'y/n' choice as to delete or not. Which is very convenient. Was able to keep customized data where needed. (should have said that, sorry) This is what I had to st...

Re: nvidia flatpak hell
Hi, oddly enough I was doing the same thing yesterday. Found a really useful script that I can vouch for. Also, those Nvidia run times quoted are the same as were on my system. Nvidia I see having published upgrades to 535.54.03-0ubuntu0. flatpak uninstall --all --delete-data This also removes custo...

[solved] Re: USRMERGE not working, causing a catastrophe?
Yeah, FATAL ERROR: Both /bin/egrep and /usr/bin/egrep exist. That's awkward! Likely to be recurring......... Maybe do a comparison with Meld and delete all the repeats? Tricky. OK, did a comparison with meld in sudo. Didn't seem to be many or any repeat pairs other than the two already noted. egrep ...

Re: USRMERGE not working, causing a catastrophe?
Hi Karichen, Thanks for your posting. I have, /bin/fgrep and /usr/bin/fgrep as identical as predicted. Containing: #!/bin/sh exec grep -F "$@" My concern you have already noted, in that there could well be a number of such repeated files. Were I to test this, your thinking is to deleting t...

Re: [SOLVED] USRMERGE, how to run it again?
Q. Could I be installing usrmerge from a broken source?
Q: Could 'usrmerge' be kernel specific, I have just updated to the latest kernel '5.4.0-80' on Uma?

[Solved] USRMERGE not working, causing a catastrophe?
Stumped with this one! After the initial 'apt install usrmerge' command and confirming to continue, I have a disaster on my hands. FATAL ERROR: Both /bin/fgrep and /usr/bin/fgrep exist. You can try correcting the errors reported and running again /usr/lib/convert-usrmerge until it will complete with...

Re: 18.3 Cinnamon 64bit nemo moves icons bug
Hi ehtron, (Specs- Mint 18.3, Nvidia Graphics card, customised desktop icons, twin-screens) Just acknowledging your post and that you seem to have isolated it to nemo grid settings. I notice right click desktop settings 'Align to grid' seems to be greyed out with me. I was getting 'icon links' stack...

Re: Hotcorner-crashes
Well, to be honest with you, I wouldn't myself poke the thing only you suggest nice. Bit risky on my main system and what with updates and reboots, things come right. However if you will excuse my skipping over suggestion one, I'll try the others. Cosmo says: Another test (in your main account: Swit...

Hotcorner-crashes
Note: Hot Corner Crashes. For what it's worth, just reporting an unusual Cinnamon crash issue to do with 'Hot-corners'. Whereby mouse over up to top left corner crashes my rig. I have searched the forums but see no reference to this, chances are it's my set up somehow. Could be graphics card, kernel...

Re: Mint-ssh-Pi-get-iplayer
OK, for anybody interested 'screen-multiplexer' and probably other terminal multipexers does the job. Basically it's a way to leave a detached shell running after having logged into a different OS using Ssh. So in this case I leave get-iplayer running on a pi whiie I can log out and shut down my mai...

Mint-ssh-Pi-get-iplayer
I think I could do with some advice on this. I am using ssh to access a 'Pi' which is set up as a LAN server. My main OS is Mint 17. All is working as it should, but: I had the idea to download a BBC film using get-iplayer on the 'Pi'. I normally do this operation on my main system, which means hang...

Re: [Mint 15] Cinnamon running in software rendering mode
Hi Pusful,
this probably won't help a bit but I just logged in myself to find out what the 'log-in' option 'software rendering' was all about.
Could it be if you chose another option at 'log-in' that it would sort things out for you. Probably not.
Graphics cards can be a pain.
