Re: GNOME or KDE [SOLVED]

Qt Cinnamon would only look different when running as the GUI on Windows. I take it you're serious so, no, it would not. A Qt application or DE can emulate GTK, KDE or Windows quite well, irrespective of the target environment, and it's been able to do that for at least the last 13 years. h...

ooooh ...ahhhhh Proposed: Building Kernel With x86-64 Microarchitecture Feature Levels

A set of two patches posted this week would allow the Linux kernel to be easily built with the different x86-64 micro-architecture feature levels supported by the latest LLVM Clang and GCC compilers. For those who have newer, and especially high-end CPUs, if this goes ahead, it means that you shoul...

North & South poles? Correct. To stand upon either pole is to stand simultaneously in all time zones. Technically, emphasis on technically, it's impossible to stand on the north pole without moving because the north pole is under water and ice, and ice shifts on water, so if you were to stand a...

Wait. Stop.

Just plug the printer in. Many Brother printers don't need a driver installed. Only install a driver if you cannot print to the printer from Linux.

Brother - good linux support, had them for the last decade, although modern printers should be driverless and just work 'out of the box'. +1 +1 I just bought a Brother HL-L5200DW monochrome laser due to one of the recommendations in the links above. I simply plugged it into my LAN, it grabbed an IP...

Re: How to *totally* un-install software?

So my question is, how can I *totally* un-install a software, every last trace, so that I can do a completely clean install, as if it had never been there? That's the wrong question to the wrong problem. There is no need to uninstall FF. Simply rename the profile directory below the hidden director...

Re: Bug-Report: Catastrophic flaw - Failed to load session "cinnamon" [solved]

The LM user forums aren't the place for bug reports. You need to go to github. @Kadaitcha Man: It would be more helpful to help and explain and not to critizise respectively to relegate -CO-Windler to github. I had a similar problem with Cinnamon which I could solve myself https://forums.linuxmint....

I don't, but I do recommend that you take a look at this: https://xtremedownloadmanager.com/

I recommend the older version 7.2.8. The newer versions place a huge java file in your home directory, which annoyed the heck out of me so I stuck with 7.2.8 but YMMV.

Re: Grub option change - part 2

Possibly it is not recommended because it is unreliable. As far as I know there shd be only 3 entries in Grub - It's not recommended because it will, without exception, bork your Grub. Indeed it claims to make a backup but the instructions do not work, nor does the recovery process, in fact restori...
