Re: KDE 12 4.7.4 upgrade

Well, if you want to take a chance you can alter the kubuntu backports on your distro to say precise or quantal. This can be done through synaptic or the command line. If you open synaptic and look at the repositories, I would guess yours says oneiric for kubuntu backports. If you change this to say...

Re: KDE 12 4.7.4 upgrade

As I understand it the backports ppa only has packages for precise and quantal. Since you are not running either one, nothing will be picked up. Also I think the backports ppa is in the 4.4.9x category not 4.4.8x.

Re: Taskbar question

There may be something better. But if you type Alt-F2 and bring up krunnner and type in an URL, it will open in your default browser.

Re: Running a script from the KDE desktop

Well, if it is working for you then that's good. I had thought you would probably put the name of an executable shell script file for both name and commad. I suppose that way you could have multiple commands. There is a script in my Mint 13 KDE with the name and command as "gtk2-default-theme.rc.sh"...

Re: Running a script from the KDE desktop

As far as Konsole goes. I think if you just hit Enter or Ctrl-C you will get the prompt. Also in System Settings -> Startup and Shutdown -> Autostart there is a place to add scripts and the drop down combo box allows you to specify when the script starts. Fair warning I myself have not used the scri...

Re: Autorun an ALT+F2 Command

Hey folks, I've been using KDE's Plasma Desktop underneath of the Gnome 3 shell (the combination is perfect, IMO) but that requires me to hit alt+F2 and type "plasma-desktop" at startup. Obviously this isn't a big deal, but it'd be nice if the computer would just do it for my automatically on start...

Re: (How) Can I install KDE 4.9.2 on Mint 12 KDE?

I think only the precise backports repo has the 4.9.2 packages. Someone please correct me if this is wrong. Since you're running oneiric, if you change the repository to precise and try the dist-upgrade, I don't know what would happen.

Re: The unofficial LMDE KDE UP5

Great ! After this I was able to complete the install. One additional thing though, with the previous failed installs, the installer thought the usb key drive was /dev/sdb and the internal hard drive was /dev/sda as you would expect. After doing the above commands though, the installer thought the ...

Re: The unofficial LMDE KDE UP5

That's strange, I haven't had that problem. The only thing different is the added slideshow so...could you try this before installing and let me know if that worked: sudo mv /usr/share/live-installer/slideshow/index.html /usr/share/live-installer/slideshow/index.html.bak Now start the live installe...

Re: The unofficial LMDE KDE UP5

I've tried to do a fresh install of UP5 from a USB drive on my ASUS netbook 1001PX several times. The installer starts up, I give all the relevant information and the installer begins to install and then the installer window disappears. No errors, no nothing, no freezes just gone. This is from the x...

@penn07

I have to say this has been my experience as well. I have Netrunner 4 and LM-KDE12 both installed on my netbook and LM-KDE12 is much snapper than Netrunner. Thanks to the Mint team.

Hello All,
The indicator-weather app works in gnome-shell. I prefer it to the gnome-extension because it has
multiple locations, forecasts and you do not need a code when you set it up. Here is a link to a screen shot.

Re: Enlightenment (E17) SVN PPA

There is a nightly build ppa for Maverick, Natty and Oneiric. Ecomorph is supposedly being depreciated in favor of emodules composite with comp-scale. This gets you the wall and scalable windows but no cube. The nightly buid ppa is https://launchpad.net/~hannes-janetzek/+archive/enlightenment-svn (n...

I really don't know. Sorry I can't be of more help. Mixing Ubuntu and Debian packages is tricky as I understand it.
