Re: Touchpad not working on Teclast F7 laptop

My Lenovo touchpad freezes at random times. A temporary fix to restart the touchpad is to do do ctrl/alt/del with the keyboard. This brings up a dialog with options - the option on the left is "suspend". Navigate to this option using the left arrow key and hit enter. This will suspend the computer. ...

Re: Cursor freeze on Mint 19

Don't know if this is related, but the earphone jack stopped working. The same (temporary) fix that I use to restore cursor movement (suspend, then unsuspend), also worked for this problem.
P.S. Installing kernel 4.15.0-30 had no effect on the cursor freeze problem.

Re: Kernel #24 problems

I hope that there will soon be a kernel release that fixes the problem of Synaptic touchpad freezes that affects LM 19 with the default kernel apt install xserver-xorg-input-synaptics and relog, but please make your own threads for your own issues. I had tried apt install xserver-xorg-input-synapti...

Re: Cursor freeze on Mint 19

Just an edit -
The title should be 'Touchpad freeze on Mint 19" since the entire touchpad, including the clicker buttons stops working

Cursor freeze on Mint 19

Cursor freeze (only the cursor) - I have a Lenovo 320 with a Synaptics touchpad. I am running Linux Mint 19 with Mate desktop. Every day or two, the touchpad stops working. Everything else still works and I can use a USB mouse. I have not noted any commonality between these occurrences - It doesn't ...

F.Y.I.
At this moment, the wifi is connected and working, but the icon shows a cable plug rather than wireless signal strength bars. I have no hardwired cable connection.

Re: wifi nightmare in both LM 17 and 18

Since I posted the last time, I tried replacing the the wifi driver for the third time (r8168 in place of r8169) and this time it maybe works slightly better since the list of available networks sometimes shows, but still far from a solution. I also tried another script that purported to awaken the ...

I don't know what causes contribute to this, but your experience is fairly commonplace in my experience, particularly on shared connections.

wifi nightmare in both LM 17 and 18

I ran LM 14 for about three years and it was a wonderful distro. I had no problems with the wifi (with the same connection I have now) and rarely any other problems. Unfortunately I cannot say the same about Linux Mint since upgrading to LM 17 and now 18. Among lesser problems, wifi has been a huge ...

[solved]: Touchpad configuration disappeared

If there is no xorg.conf file under /etc/x11/ the touchpad tab doesnt show under assistive technologies/mouse. Since there was none, I added the xorg.conf file with the following information: tion "InputClass" Identifier "touchpad" Driver "synaptics" MatchIsTouchpad "on" Option "TapButton1" "1" Opti...

Touchpad configuration disappeared

I have an Acer Aspire and Mint 14 Mate. I always have to re-enable the touchpad after each boot. Until this morning, I had to do ctrl fn f7 to enable it, but when I booted this morning, I discovered that the key combination had mysteriously changed to just fn f7. Re: Sound icon disappeared after last update

I got it back - I went to preferences/srartup programs and clicked on "Add" In the dialog box. I used the name "Volume Control" and for command I used "mate-volume-control-applet". I clicked save and rebooted.

Re: Sound icon disappeared after last update

I got the icon back by right-clicking on the bottom bar to the left of the system tray then using "Add" and finding the icon. However, even when I use the "Move" option (by right clicking on the bottom bar) I am unable to restore it to its former position so the system tray has an unsightly gap wher...

Sound icon disappeared after last update

After automatic updates pushed through the update manager yesterday (Dec. 7?), the sound icon has disappeared from the system tray. Does anyone know how to restore it? I am running Mate on Mint 14 Nadia. As a note, one reason why I uprgraded from Mint 13 to 14 was to fix an application for which the...

The trick on this computer turned out to be to press ctrl fn F7 to enable the mouse. I do not know how to mark a post as solved on this forum but this is SOLVED!
