Re: nftables - I'm a bit late to the party. Lots of questions.

Thank you for the response, Coggy. Here are the results of my from my iptables' rules. I'm not at all sure what any of it means. That said, in the sequence of things, it is my third, and final, firewall. # Generated by iptables-save v1.8.4 on Tue Mar 28 19:12:21 2023 *security :INPUT ACCEPT [2095403...

nftables - I'm a bit late to the party. Lots of questions.

I tried doing searches to find answers, but what I found only confused me further. I suspect that the answers I need are simple, so... I have always had Gufw and iptables installed. I have now installed and enabled nftables. So, does Gufw configure nftables? My requirements are quite simple. I have ...

Both Update Manager and Synaptic Package Manager indicate the repository cannot be found. {Solved}

Earlier this morning, I had a notification that an update was available. When I tried to update, I received a message stating that the repository wasn't available and to try again later. Now, the notification is no longer showing, but both Update Manager and Synaptic Package Manager indicate that th...

Re: My laptop's keyboard is crazy

If debris has made its way into your keyboard, it can cause this problem. Try vacuuming the keyboard. In my experience, this is often the simple solution. Turn your laptop off, invert the keyboard and give it some gentle shakes, then vacuum. If this doesn't work, you know the problem is more serious.

Re: Firefox & Widevine Content Decryption Module???

karichen, Thank you for your reply. Widevine is installed and enabled in Add-ons and themes . Furthermore, in a box, highlighted in yellow, just below the add-on is the following message: Widevine Content Decryption Module provided by Google, Inc. will be installed shortly . In front of this message...

Firefox & Widevine Content Decryption Module???

Does anyone have an idea about when the Linux Mint team is going to update this module? As of this moment, Firefox has been updated twice since I last posted on this subject, and the Widevine Content Decryption Module is still not functioning. I am prevented from viewing or downloading content from ...

Re: Another Firefox update question...

I have Firefox, Chromium, and Midori installed in Linux. I rarely use Chromium unless a critical site won't play nicely with all the security protocols I have installed on Firefox. It's been nearly a year since I opened Midori. However, just one Firefox. Additionally, I cannot remember if I installe...

Re: Another Firefox update question...

No. The message did not change. Also, FYI, the update did not come through the Update Manager. Firefox advised me that there was an update available. A click of the mouse took me to their site, and presented a choice of operating systems to check. It then allowed me to download a zip file with the u...

Re: Another Firefox update question...

A bit more on this topic: Firefox just updated, directly, to 106.0.5. This did not come through the repository, and it did not solve the DRM issue.

Re: Another Firefox update question...

SMG, FWIW, that particular plugin is installed on Firefox on both my Linux Mint 20 Cinnamon and Windows 10 platforms. The caution mentioned above is not found on the Windows edition. Also, in the link you provided, it was noted that the plugin was provided to Firefox by Google. I think we can expect...

Re: Another Firefox update question...

I have a bit more information on this subject, but I am unsure if it means anything. WRT DRM: In Settings>Add-ons and themes>Plugins>Widevine Content Decryption Module provided by Google Inc. Under this box, highlighted and with an orange triangle with an exclamation point, is the following message:...

Re: Another Firefox update question...

Well, that is sort of my point. Windows is using 106.0.4. Linox Mint appears to be behind (106.0.3). Is there an update from Mozilla forthcoming?

Re: Another Firefox update question...

From the banner posted, I would presume that Firefox knows what is required, and I am missing an update. I also suspect that Mozilla has provided that update directly as the issue doesn't exist in Windows. However, since Mozilla's updates come to Mint users through the repository, I have to wonder i...

Another Firefox update question...

Re: Corrupt SD Card, need help

I had an similar issue with a thumb drive quite some time ago. It was solved with the following command: sudo ntfsfix /dev/sdb 1 where /dev/sdb1 is the drive in question. I have no idea if it will solve your problem, but the command is one of those gems I got from this forum, and since it worked for...

Re: RAM question...

Thank you for the response. I do use a dual boot, and CPU-Z does say it is using a dual channel mode. (It's a shame CPU-X doesn't provide this information.) Additionally, if I read it right, it said that the CAS Latency is 20.0. My understanding is both sticks are running at 2667 MHz.
