Caja not drawing desktop items?

I use Mint 13 Maya, and just today I booted my computer and I see my desktop background but no icons and I can't right-click on the desktop. Caja is set to draw the desktop icons in mateconf-editor, but when I tried to restart caja by using killall caja I get caja: no process found . I can run caja ...

Reconfigure hardware?

While installing Mint 13 it configures your hardware. Is there a way to do this again after Mint has been installed without having to reinstall Mint?

Re: Bash script to rename zip files.

I figured out a way that works. Here's the code, I also have the files run through a Barnes and Noble DRM decrypter. #!/bin/sh #needs xml_grep from the package xml-twig-tools mkdir "tmp" # creates temporary workspace for i in *.epub; do #checks that there are epub books in directory if [ -...

Bash script to rename zip files.

I have a lot of epub books from barnesandnoble.com. The epub books are just xml files in a zip file. When you download books, they are named with numbers, and I want to rename them using a bash script instead of manually renaming each one. Inside of all epub books is a file named content.opf. This f...

Re: I forgot my main/only/sudo Mint password (MATE 13)

mkdir mint mount /dev/sda2 mint sudo chroot mint passwd <username> The above instructions should work because when you installed linux and it asked if you wanted to encrypt your "home" folder, it doesn't encrypt everything else. Alternatly you can boot a live cd, mount your partition, ope...

mono: symbol lookup error

When I try to run some programs I get this error:

Code: Select all

mono: symbol lookup error: /usr/local/lib/libglibsharpglue-2.so: undefined symbol: g_thread_supported

Why is this?

Re: Electric Sheep + Mint 12 KDE

I don't know about Mint 12 KDE, but I use Mint 13 Mate and when I installed electricsheep through the repositories it installed electricsheep.desktop at /usr/share/applications/screensavers/electricsheep.desktop. Here's the original contents of that file: [Desktop Entry] Name=ElectricSheep Comment=E...

Re: Mate Screensavers

Nevermind mind, I found out how. You go to /usr/share/applications/screensavers/ and you open them up in a text editor. And at the bottom of the file should be something similar to this (this is out of an xscreensaver, but I think you can do this with any screensaver) : OnlyShowIn=GNOME; And what yo...

Mate Screensavers

I'm using Linux Mint 13 and the mate-screensaver only has like 5 screensavers. I've looked around but I can't find any more for it. I tried install the xscreensaver but the daemon would have to be restarted after every reboot. Is there a way to convert xscreensavers to mate?

Re: Sound output help.

I fixed it by running "sudo aptitude --purge reinstall linux-sound-base alsa-base alsa-utils linux-image-`uname -r` linux-ubuntu-modules-`uname -r` libasound2" in the terminal.
