Re: Display time in AM/PM instead of 24 hour clock

I just installed Mint 17.1 and the clock was showing as 24 hour style. The way I got it back to 12 hour follows. Right click on the time (for a drop down box) Right click on preferences. You will see CLOCK FORMAT with the 24 hour clock checked. Simply check the circle in front of the 12 hour and you...

Re: How do you fix Error 39 in Thunderbird

Thank you to those who replied to my request for assistance. After downloading all updates there is no more Error 39 or should I say Erron 39. After having bad experiences (pre Linux) with MS Windows updates I have adopted the saying "If it ain't broke why fix it?" That is why I did not update my sy...

Re: How do you fix Error 39 in Thunderbird

Hello Karl, In the process of answering your questions I found that I have misread the problem that I called Error 39. The problem is actually called an Errno not Error as I had said. They look like this; [Errno 39} Directory not empty: '/home/my compute rname)/.thunderbird/pckvb3rl.default/Casche/1...

Re: [Errno 5] Input/output error

I want to take the time to say thank you to everyone who has posted information on this error. I also want to tell you my experience with this problem. I, like so many of you, could not load Linux Mint on my computer after download from CD. Unfortunatly for me I struggled with this many days. I boug...

Can't run H&R Block Tax Program on Linux Mint

I tried to load the installation CD but Linux Mint can't read it. It never dawned on me that the Linux Software would not be able to run a tax program. It seems the only way I am going to be able to do my taxes is on my old laptop which still has Windows 2k on it. Does any one know what a person wit...

Re: can't load live LINUX MINT dvd

usbtux, I have a cd with all the drivers for my machine. It will come up on the monitor screen but I can not get to download into the computer because the area that starts the download/install needs to be clicked on with a curser (which I do not have) the mouse is not working. What do you mean by ex...

Re: can't load live LINUX MINT dvd

I apoligize, I have given the wrong name for the HD wiping disc. It is actually Deriks Boot N Nuke dban.
It is no wonder you were not able to find it. I shouldn't have relied on my memory.

Re: can't load live LINUX MINT dvd

Whew! You gave me a lot to chew on. Actually I did NOT get the Brians Boot N Nuke download from http://www.dban.org/download. I bought a DVD on Ebay that had the program on it also incluced the necessary drivers and whatever. I expect now that I have said that the DVD will be considered the most lik...

Re: can't load live LINUX MINT dvd

gold_finger, The DVD booted up and came to the screen. I do not remember exactly but there must have been a place I needed to click on for a choice (like A partition wall or within Windows or something) before it would begin to download. Because the mouse pointer would not operate I could not choose...

Re: can't load live LINUX MINT dvd

I used that computer for years. It off and on got infected with various bugs. I managed to clean out things and keep it running. I wanted a like new computer for the Linux install, that is why I wiped the HD. BTW my version is Mint 13. I got into the BIOS several times after the wipe once to change ...

Re: can't load live LINUX MINT dvd

Thanks for your suggestion. I checked the BIOS on the computer that I cannot get The DVD to load. The BIOS says I have USB and that it is enabled. I will need to buy a Flash drive thoug because all mine are less than 2GB. The only concern is; as I previously said, my mouse does not work. Will I need...

Re: can't load live LINUX MINT dvd

No, I have not tried to load it from a USB for two reasons, I do not have Linux on a flash drive that I can load and also I do not know how to get Linux on a flash drive. All I have is the Linux DVD that I used on my other Computer (It worked fine but I did not wipe the HD first).

can't load live LINUX MINT dvd

I did a complete wipe of the HD on a IBM ThinkCentre using Brians Nuke and Boot. Aparently it took the drivers too because now the mouse does not work (the keyboard does though). I can not load anything because of this, not even a CD of drivers that I have. I was able to reload Win XP from an old CD...

Where do I find a list of installed programs in Linux Mint

Hello, Yep! I am a newbee! One of the first things I did was download anti virus. Since then I have been reading posts and have learned I do not need it. Stupidly i did not copy the name of the program because being an ex-microsoft Windows person I thought it would show up in the installed programs ...
