No Picture Previews when uploading
Linux Mint 18.3 KDE I can preview all pictures when viewing via Dolphin. When I go to upload pictures to Flikr or any other online platform, I only get previews of a couple of pictures and the rest are generic icons. They are all taken with the same camera. Pictures taken with my phone (Android) ten...

[Quote} How much RAM has your host installed? ........................... Total available RAM of 2048 as per screenshot: This is the amount of memory, you gave the virtual machine. I asked for the amount of RAM in your host = in your physical machine. If you don't know, enter in a terminal inxi and...

Re: Rufus or Rufus equivalent.
If you get a message about invalid settings, you should see inside the settings dialog a notice in its status bar. Hovering this should give additional info, what is invalid. At least for 4.3.34 (out of said reasons I don't use VB 5) this message comes most likely because of your settings for drag ...

Re: Rufus or Rufus equivalent.
Screen 2: Memory Size I would give the Windows 7 virtual machine 1GB RAM (since you only have 2GB) which is 1024 MB using half the memory of your system can be disastrous, unstable system will occur, sadly win7 minimum requirements are 1GB. if you do decide to use half your memory i would advice no...

Re: Rufus or Rufus equivalent.
As Cosmo said, open VirtualBox after following his instructions. To set up a new machine I set it up like this: Screen 1: Name: Windows 7 Type: Microsoft Windows Version: Windows 7 (32 bit) Screen 2: Memory Size I would give the Windows 7 virtual machine 1GB RAM (since you only have 2GB) which is 10...

Re: Rufus or Rufus equivalent.
I have used version 5.0 and haven't had any stability issues. Of course I can't remember which one I downloaded, but believe it was the Ubuntu version which Cosmo mentioned (except 5.0.4 instead of 4.3.34). It has been updated since I downloaded my version and the numbers are different. Either way, ...

That sound like it is precisely what I need! I will give it a go early in the morning when I have good download speed and I am rested. Just got home from a long days work. Thanks again. I will be around at work with very little to do all day, so will keep an eye on the thread if you need help insta...

Re: Rufus or Rufus equivalent.
Thanks Duneelliot. Just a couple of clarifying questions to ask before I proceed to follow your installation instructions, please forgive the elementary nature of them. 1. Does "Virtual Box" run in my Linux Mint 17 operating system? Or is it a separate operating system? 2. If yes to the f...

Re: Rufus or Rufus equivalent.
Yes, but don't think there's a space VirtualBox If you are confident with downloading from their website, VB 5.0 has been available for a while and works well with Win7: https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads Select the VirtualBox 5.0.10 for Linux hosts for download. It is a .deb file which works...

Re: I can't install OS !torrent wont open,
I was finally able to run md5sum and the file was fine. I did run linux mint mate off the usb and saw the installation utility. I would like to have the simplest fastest set up I can with my hardware. I use my laptop for personal and business so I also need to be able to use quickbooks, WA. and OR....

... Also, is there a reason you can't run this program in a Win7 VM? ..................................................Not that I am aware of. You would be *MUCH* happier installing your Win7 as a VM - - even if you have to do it under Windows 10. (I believe the VMWare Player is still free for pers...

Re: IT professional, student or hobbyist?
I chose "Other". I work in a non-IT job but still spend time tinkering with the work computers as long as I don't break them. I work for a small-enough company that they don't care if I run Firefox or Chrome instead of IE. Nor do they care if I install a VM for Linux on my desktop. I also ...

female here, there must be plenty more, i dont see why gender matters though. Agree, it doesn't matter much here apart from as a curiousity and knowing you are not the only one. But there are plenty of times it matters a great deal, imo! Examples: Bringing life into this world, Lifting a very heavy...

WinUSB is what I have heard to be suggested. Re: Welcome Ladies - post here :)
As far as I know (including all the research) there is no way to download an XP ISO. It's either on an original disk or it's not. The SP3 ISO I downloaded was an update ISO, not a full install. Just hoping someone, maybe somewhere, has a full install disk they don't want that came with their compute...

Re: Welcome Ladies - post here :)
Hi Kath XP was one of the last good Windows OSs (7 being the only other one). I'd love to get my hands on an XP install disk somewhere, but they seem to have disappeared (for VMs or for fixes). I also have to use Win7 for work (or hobbies) but glad it's a choice, not a "have to because I'm stuc...
