Re: Wine install failing, or wants to uninstall a lot

I've seen the "wants to remove a lot of stuff I need" here a few times, and I've gotten something similar to the "wine : Depends: wine1.6" in the past, which **I think I fixed** by "sudo apt-get update", and then... ..."completely removing" (="purge"...

Re: Wine install failing, or wants to uninstall a lot

Hi couple things I would try to upgrade to 18.3. Is your system up to date? if not do so now. You should be able to install playonlinux and then you can install any version of wine into it. My system is up to date. I could try an update to LM 18.3, but that's a bit too much work atm... I already tr...

Wacom startup script

Hello all, I had problems setting up my Wacom tablet (Pen & Touch) a couple of times, and wrote a script to make things a little easier. This script auto-detects the correct tablet ID, initializes it, sets the button commands, and has the touch-toggle integrated as well. To use this script, do t...

Re: LM 17: Wacom Bamboo: Buttons stop working with touch off

I'm on 64bit Mint 17, and can confirm this (what I think is a) bug. Ubuntu users seem to have the same problem. I'll post back here if and when I find a solution to this problem. - EDIT- I think I found the solution: instead of turning "Touch" off, use "Gesture": #!/bin/bash DEVI...

Re: How to install compiz on Linux Mint 17 Qiana Mate editio

Tried the 32bit install of Mint Mate 17. Similar problem - hangs on Starting plugin: ezoom However, I can type in browser, select windows and move them around. So it is better than in the 64 bit install. I just tried the ezoom plugin, but it seems to be working correctly... The only thing I can thi...

Re: How to install compiz on Linux Mint 17 Qiana Mate editio

Nice tutorial! A few notes on my installation: 1) Instead of manually installing, I just installed using the Software Manager. Search for "Compiz", and install: - Compiz - Compizconfig-settings-manager - Compiz-plugins 2) In "Startup Applications", instead of using "compiz -...

Re: Install Cinnamon in Mate?

I installed Cinnamon in MATE just out of curiosity. BAD CHOICE! It messed the entire system up! Unless you're planning to re-install anyway, DO NOT ATTE...

I did the same thing.

I have seen it mentioned somewhere that this is possible (MATE and Cinnamon on the same system), but this actually screws everything up!
DO NOT install both desktops!
You'll end up with a complete mess!!

I agree. It should be installed by default... I also managed to get it working on Mint 15 (MATE) 64bit I used sources from caja-actions 1.6.2 While installing, I created a .deb using "checkinstall" (http://community.linuxmint.com/tutorial/view/162) You can grab it here: (64bit o...

Re: Audio/Video Stuttering issues in LM15 Mate x64

I was having some problems with stuttering sound too. In my case, the stutter only happened the first few seconds when playing any sound. After about 5 seconds, playback would be normal. I also almost got to the point of uninstalling PulseAudio. However, after reading some more about it online, it s...

Re: "could not write bytes: Broken pipe" is message at shutd

The following seemed to fix it: 1) Open Terminal, and go root 2) Run the following code: (Replace mdm with lightdm if you use LightDM) dpkg-reconfigure mdm 3) Reboot (And see the "Broken pipe" message for the last time) 4) At this time the message was gone, but the Mint desktop did not lo...
