Re: I need help getting Linux Mint Mate 20.3 to stop freezing after waking up from suspend
Sorry I am late replying about your suggestion. Again, was back to work which involves all of my waking time. Anyway, I have done what was suggested and everything updated fine. However, I did not do Timeshift, and basically the system is borked. It will now go to sleep manually if I tell it to (cli...

Re: I need help getting Linux Mint Mate 20.3 to stop freezing after waking up from suspend
The oldest kernel which should be used with LM21 is the 5.15 kernel so I do not understand how you are on the 5.13 kernel. Not only is it no longer receiving security updates, it should not be used on LM21 versions. That was the kernel that I was on when I updated the system. Also, in the update pr...

Re: I need help getting Linux Mint Mate 20.3 to stop freezing after waking up from suspend
Just and update. (Good news & bad news) (Good news) I have successfully upgraded to Linux Mint 21.1 (Mate). I have disabled my Wifi using the network icon by right clicking on it and de-clicking the Wifi enabled button. The computer will now suspend when I prompt it to. Always did. It will now w...

Re: I need help getting Linux Mint Mate 20.3 to stop freezing after waking up from suspend
Sorry about the times not posting. When I would reboot the system to do dmesg using the latest kernel, I ended up copying what it showed into my word processor program and apparently, the times didn't transfer. Also, you are correct, the minipc has Wifi, but I am not using it. Since it is hooked up ...

Re: I need help getting Linux Mint Mate 20.3 to stop freezing after waking up from suspend
Well, I wouldn't say stuck. Mouse and keyboard wake the computer up to the point that the display comes back. Mouse works, connection doesn't, apps don't. If I just sit there for about 5 minutes, everything comes back; internet, apps and all. Just as though I had just booted it up before it suspende...

Re: I need help getting Linux Mint Mate 20.3 to stop freezing after waking up from suspend
Just have 2 hdmi ports.
I have been working pretty much all of my waking hours for the last 3 days and haven't had the chance to work further on this. I plan to look at logs and try the kernel suggestions you made tomorrow.
Thanks.

Re: I need help getting Linux Mint Mate 20.3 to stop freezing after waking up from suspend
Thanks SMG. I tried the live version of the latest Mint, but didn't actually install it because of the suspend problem. Well let me change that; I did put it on a usb drive and ran it. At the time, just the version 6 kernel was available. As far as distros, Fedora(KDE), Open Susie(KDE), Manjaro(KDE)...

I need help getting Linux Mint Mate 20.3 to stop freezing after waking up from suspend
I have read post in these forums, as well as on the internet, and I am baffled. The latest version(s) of the kernels offered on my mint update (5.15) cause the whole system to freeze for around 5 minutes after waking up from suspend. The latest kernel that I can use without any issues is the 5.13.0-...

Re: Thumbnail issue in Vanessa Mate
Thank you for your replies! I do, if I may, beg to differ though. I have downloaded and run live editions of MX Linux (Kde & Xfce), Lubuntu, and Manjaro (Kde). All of these distros will show the thumbnails from the phone correctly, right out of the box. However, Linux Mint (all versions) and Ubu...

Thumbnail issue in Vanessa Mate
I have a problem with thumbnails in the latest version of Linux Mint Vanessa (Mate). When I try look at files in my phone, I get just the generic thumbnail for the file. Screenshot at 2022-09-10 11-47-53.png If I move the file to my desktop, the thumbnail then shows a preview of what is in the file....

Re: Items saved to desktop do not appear until desktop folder is opened
Has anyone solved this other that doing a reinstall? I have the same problem. The only thing that I would like to add is that if I shut down the system and reboot, the items saved work fine; they show up. If the computer goes to sleep and then wakes up, that is when the problem manifest itself. If I...

Re: [Solved] Grub doesn't show on boot
In my particular case, the GRUB menu used to show. But, now does not. I'm pretty sure this was after an update. However, I don't re-boot too often (actually only after a new kernel has been downloaded). After researching this I found so many suggestions that indicated [SOLVED]. I tried them...to no...

Yes, I am one of the strange ones. Running Mate. gm10. Thank you! Sorry that I missed that. Went to it and there was not anything there. Clicked on the drop down beside file manager and Caja came up. Clicked it to make it my preferred file manager and whola, it worked. Just going into how it was sol...

Re: Mint 19.2 Mint Mate Menu doen't open my Home folder in Places
Thanks blueocean, I tried what you suggested, clicked on the mint menu, no joy. Tried it again, this time rebooting, still no joy. I want to expand on my home folder if I may. If I click on the taskbar folder icon that I have locked on it, the home folder will open up with no problems. Desktop too. ...

[Solved] Mint 19.2 Mint Mate Menu does not open my Home folder in Places
I really haven't seen any topic that is specific to this particular problem. Backdrop I recently upgraded to Mint 19.2 Mate from 19.1 Mate. Everything seems fine until I go to Mint Menu>Places>Home Folder and click on it. Same issue when trying to go to desktop the same way, I noticed. What happens ...

Thanks for the replies. One question. Why not just add my present account to the sudo privilege? Or does it have to be a new account?

Update Manager has dissapeared!
I sure hope that I am posting this in the right area. I started my Linux Mint 17.2 Mate 64bit system, and noticed that the Update Manager icon that usually sits on my taskbar was not there. I then went to Menu>Administration>Update Manager and clicked on it to check for updates. When I clicked, noth...
