Re: Cifs share with user rw access

You could try to fix up the statement in fstab to this: //192.168.2.5/music /media/music cifs credentials=/home/rothgar/.smbcredentials,uid=1000,gid=1000,file_mode=0666,dir_mode=0777,nounix 0 0 I tried this and had the same result. No write permissions So if you run the following command you do not...

Re: Cifs share with user rw access

I have rw access to all of the subfolders (I'm owner+group with permissions 775) Gigolo doesn't automatically map network shares (as far as I could find) and the gvfs method did not work for me (it never prompted for username and password) Any other ideas why the fstab method is not working? I'd ass...

Re: Help with if statement script

Thanks! That works. I had a feeling I may need to nest ifs but I didn't realize the if would exit once something was true. I was hoping it would treat all the initial pings together and then move on to the file server automatically. Sorry for the lack of line breaks, the router doesn't let me save s...

Help with if statement script

Hey everyone, I've hit a bit of a wall when trying to get a bash script working with an if statement. I was wondering if someone can have a look and try to help me out. Here is what I am trying to do. I am running this script from my router (DD-WRT) to test if any known clients are awake on the netw...

Re: Please tell us what you want to hear on the podcast

I very much would like to cover LMDE but I have a problem because it will not install on my laptop. There is a problem with the video drivers which I haven't had the time to figure out. LM 10 works but has a problem too so either way I am kinda in a bind with this new laptop. Thanks for the feedback...

Re: i need mint youtube channel content!

Clem had posted on the Linux Mint blog a while ago that he wanted a screencast project to start and I know there was another thread dedicated to getting that going. The thread faded away when not a lot of people got interested and no one made videos. We (mintCast) contacted prefessorsnapper (the mai...

Re: MintTouch

I think you might want something like 10gui although this would actually require new hardware to be made instead of creating software for a touch screen. Although maybe you could take the ideas and put it into a touch screen but the way they have it explained is still better IMO.

Zwopper, I can't find any announcement of the winners of this competition,on the Mintcast site it looks like it is still running. Sorry about that, the contest is definitely over. Re: I need EVERYONE'S attention for just a moment!!!

What if I just have an old computer I am willing to donate?

It is a HP dc5100 with a pentium 4, 80 gb hard drive, 1 GB ram.

Would that work?

Re: mintCast - The lost entry!

That is really weird, the mintcast email is hosted by gmail too but I have no record of your email address in my inbox. Did you get a confirmation email from me? I sent one to every entry after I downloaded the wallpaper. Sorry if the email got lost, I don't know if it would be fair (to you or other...

Re: mintCast wallpaper challenge voting has begun!

I thought I would chime in on what my hopes were for the challenge. The contests number one goal was to get more people to know about the site/podcast and hopefully through that Linux Mint (or the other way around). Either way, the podcast is trying to not only promote Linux in general, we just typi...

Re: mintCast Wallpaper Challenge [1st&2nd Place win IBM Laptop]

D'oh! I've been on blender doing some stuff and never knew there was an actual mintCast icon; I ended up rendering a mint icon on my thing instead. Oh well, all good practice with beziers anyway  You couldn't by any chance supply a .blend of your icon could you? Also, can't stop myself ...
