Re: Help asked: Scribus 1.4.0 RC6 (how to get it)

I had the same problem. I was still able to install scribus and the key error only bugged me when I had to refresh sources list. Anyway I was able to solve this the way DrHu described. I noticed you used SUDO before the command. I did not and had success. Maybe it'll work for you too. Good Luck. Scr...

Re: Need a Network Setup Tutorial

You might want to try reinstalling the network manager or even try (wicd) instead. I don't use it but others rave about it. You should try going to gnome.org and seeing what they have on network manager. Look for wicd in the package manager. It replaces network manager altogether. If you choose to t...

Re: Persmission errors - please help!

I would try anything at this point. I'm not sure exactly what the problem is but it sounds like he doesn't own his own home directory. Maybe his user ID# as changed. The other thing I would try to do would be to make a new user and use it.

Sorry I couldn't help more.

Re: Problem with Package Manager and Update.

I'm pretty sure you upgraded you kernel. This can definitely cause some problems at times. When using the mint update you should probably only update levels 1,2 & 3. Otherwise you will end up in the same situation. After you follow this how to then set the mintupate panel to only update 1,2,3. To ch...

I hope it helps. I know how frustrating it can be when things don't work right when out of town.

Re: Need a Network Setup Tutorial

Not sure why that's happening. You should be able to click into the netmask section and the gateway section, put in your input then hit apply. Until you get it to accept the input the apply button will remain greyed out.

Does it work trying the key combo ctrl-alt-left or right arrow keys. Because if it doesn't you may have some more serious issues.

Re: NFL Pay Stream Sites?

Looks like the only thing available for video is the NFL Rewind package. Pretty cheap,--only $25 for the rest of the season. The games are archived so nothing is live. When trying to view the demo it said it only works on Windows and Mac but I'm sure you could manipulate firefox to identify itself a...

Re: Wifi issues with Mint 5 on nc4010

what do you see when you click on the network applet? Does it have a list of available connections?

I would also tell you to try using a newer version and it may just connect automatically.

Re: Scanning music scores- is there some software?

I don't know of any program that allows you to scan a piece in and be able to play it but you could always use rosegarden or musescore to type in the music and then be able to hear it. Both are great programs but rosegarden is probably the best I've used.

hope this helps. good luck.

I too am no one to say much, but optimize me is good contributor and helped me on several occasions through other posts. I too would be a little offended if I was trying to help someone who needed it and came at me with a reply like that. Total lack of respect if you ask me. He has no way of knowing...

Re: On start up it says I am missing Arc Wise theme

Not sure exactly what happened but you can install the aurora package and it should solve the problem. You can do that 2 ways. Got to the package manager in the menu and search for gtk2-engines-aurora, right click on it and select install, then hit apply, or open a terminal and type: sudo apt-get in...

Re: connect to wifi computer

Druhu has it right. First you have to go into your router settings and set port forwarding to the computer you want to connect to. Look on the bottom of your router. It will have the address to get into the settings. SSH by default uses port 22 if that's how you want to connect. (recommended) So por...
