Highest LM13 kernel that works with Nvidia GTX 660?

So I decided to settle down on 13, it seems to fit all my needs. 16 is kinda still wonky for me. One concern I have is regarding the kernel and how far back it is -- 3.2. I tried updating it to the latest one which is 3.12 by blindly following a guide here: http://ubuntuhandbook.org/index.php/2013/1...

Re: installing gTile on LM15/Cinna 1.8.8

Okay, so I tried that, and it " kinda " worked, let me explain:

When I pressed the super + space bar, I saw the menu pop up, the one that looks like a grid. After that it kinda just disappears and nothing happens.

Any advice?

Start up applications not remembering my script!

It is a simple script that resides in my /usr/local/bin It is a one liner: http://pastebin.com/ejV7Aa3v that helps me map my caps lock to escape for vim. Everytime I start up my computer the change NEVER takes place. The funny thing though is that, I have a redshift command in the start u...

installing gTile on LM15/Cinna 1.8.8

I have been having troubles installing the gTile 0.3 For I followed the guide here: http://cinnamon-spices.linuxmint.com/extensions/view/21 When I tried to run after I was done, by pressing super+spacebar, (assuming space bar means windows key) Nothing happens. Then I went into settings>extensions, ...

Rolling back from FF18 -> FF17

I juts can't stand the font that's been messed with in this version of Firefox, and I've tried nearly all the gfx.enable.this.piece.of.crap = true that I've found on various forums and nothing seems to have worked. My fonts are blurry and seems pixellated !^@$@! So here I am, literally begging to a ...

Re: How do I install sublime text 2 text editor?

Oh and a shameless self-plug:

here's the settings you might want to look at if you want to set a default-syntax so you don't have to pick a new one everytime you open it.

Also,

for the redditors out there. Or, you don't even need to go to www.reddit.com, to notice that the font has got weirder.

Can any verify this, and is there a fix for it?

Re: How too hot-key bind "shutdown"

That worked beautifully, thank you sir.

If you don't mind me asking one more favor of you, could you please explain that one liner you told me to input.

I wish to learn more instead of blindly copying and pasting : )

Re: How too hot-key bind "shutdown"

Thanks for the command. It works when I type it into the terminal, but it asks for my root password. So it won't work as a hotkey because I have to be inputing the password everytime I want to shutdown, and by skipping the command line I would not have anywhere to type it into. I sometimes can't use...

Here is what I'm talking about: I am trying to find out the command line for various "Gnome" menus and windows by going into the command line and listing them all. So for exampl when I type in "gnome-power-statistics" and hit enter I get exactly that window and it even shows up on the "System Resour...

Ubuntu got caught spying (uh oh)

So I was reading this article just now: http://www.fsf.org/blogs/rms/ubuntu-spyware-what-to-do About how Ubuntu is relaying information over to the Canonical servers. That's baaaaaaad, and they should feel bad. Knowing that Mint is built off of Ubuntu, what does this mean for us Mint users? How will...

Installing software on a non-admin account

So I recently came across a great piece of anti-theft/tracking software: http://www.preyproject.com. How it works is that, should your laptop get stolen and the thief fires your laptop up, it tries to connec to any open wifi signals and sends the owner the laptop's current geolocation, screenshots o...
