Re: Introducing prospective newbies....
Feedback please, what worked, what went down like a lead balloon. It went surprisingly well, they are a Common Law group and are eager to escape all forms of establishment, Bill gates and his spawn are particularly unpopular, so they listened with great interest and asked many questions - they seem...

Re: Introducing prospective newbies....
Well, thanks all for the tips, I delivered the presentation, all were very interested and I upgraded the host's laptop from Windows 10 to Mint 21.1 Cinnamon today (after much fun with secure boot that absolutely refused to disable in bios, HP Pavillion). Installed the Broadcom wi-fi driver too. More...

Introducing prospective newbies....
Right folks, looking for some pointers here please. I have been invited to speak to a small group of people on the merits vs drawbacks of switching to Linux from Windows. As a Linux user for 10+ years I know the benefits and see very few negatives, so how do I articulate this to a group of non-tech ...

Re: Is distro hopping ultimately pointless?
I just use Mint - although I do dual boot with Debian , Mint is my daily driver for the bulk of my work. I don't have time for complicated procedures- I just want a computer that is stable and easy to maintain, (and not Microsoft or Apple) for me, life is too short to fight with complicated stuff. I...

Re: Looking to run 3rd Monitor - any advice please?
Yeah thanks, the manual (once I managed to find it in the house) seems to suggest combinations of two monitors, but no mention of three - new card then when I can afford one (Nvidia of course)
Card is a Gigabyte GV-N560UD-1GI

Re: Looking to run 3rd Monitor - any advice please?
The card is a Gigabyte GeForce GTX 560 Ti - it can run two of the 3 ports (one miniHDMI and two DVI) at any one time, I'm using a DVI and and the HDMI, the DVI is adapted to a VGA 19" monitor

Looking to run 3rd Monitor - any advice please?[SOLVED]
Hi all, I am seeking to run a third monitor, is it possible to run it from the on-board graphics? The current two monotors run from a Nvidia GTX 560 Ti and very well too. Unfortunately my work is now dictating the need of a third monitor to be more efficient. Any tips gratefully accepted - maybe I j...

Re: EU threatens code sharing (and therefore Linux software development)
The EU is, at heart, anti democratic so they will do whatever suits them, no matter how unjust or ridiculous it seems. Watch as Open source dies a death here over the coming few years

Re: EU threatens code sharing (and therefore Linux software development)
This, essentially, means the beginning of the shutting down of the internet for open source, most likely at the behest of the likes of Microsoft and Apple et al. It's easy to project forward and see how Linux and BSD operating system ISO files will be hit as well once they adjust the algorithms to i...
