Re: Verifying Mint 18 iso errors

t works here with GnuPG 1.4.16 but it appears then that it doesn't with your version. Thanks for help. I upgraded to gnupg 1.4.11 but it still didn't work so I'm just going burn to dvd and trust the iso is valid. I downloaded from advancedhosters.com mirror listed on mint download page thus I assum...

Verifying Mint 18 iso errors [Solved]

So far no matter what I tried I can't import the key from the keyserver. I searched google and tried many methods I found yet I haven't yielded any success. Any help would be appreciated. Here's what I tried thus far. I'm still using Mint 13 Mate though I don't think that has any relevance to my pro...

Re: cut copy paste buttons in Caja

I'm using Mint Mate 17.1. It seems Caja file manager doesn't provide buttons for copy, cut, and paste. Too bad. Although Caja doesn't provide buttons in the status bar in the menu under edit, copy, cut and paste are there. As well as when you right click any file the options are there too. You can a...

Re: Panel pop-up folder?

I know what BlackRook means. I wish Mint had this functionality but sadly it does not. The closet MATE has is gnome drawer, which is not very eye pleasing.

Re: How to unzip?

Based upon whichonespink? post history I'm thinking he bonked his system by installing dolphin, which pulled in a host of KDE libraries. In my experience KDE and gnome do not work well together problems always arise. Maybe this will help sudo apt-get install engrampa then: pkill caja Caja then resta...

Re: Login Loop- Loss of Audio

Unless it has changed Cinnamon, XFCE and Mate all use pulse audio so removing it causes problems. http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=58&t=197204 http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=171128 You can access the terminal by use ctrl alt f1 - f7 and then use startx to start t...

Re: Mint 13: Firefox 39.0 crashes right on startup

Firefox 38 is absolutely horrid with horrendous memory leaks thus I've been waiting for over 6 weeks for FF 39 yet it seems Mint and Ubuntu have not done anything to fix the bug for Mint 13 32bit. So if I understand karlchen and xenopeek my choices are either downgrade to 37 or outdated ESR version ...

Re: Firefox: How to add Privatelee search engine ?

@Pierre: I pressed the ADD "privatelee to searchbar" link, but it didn't add Privatelee to searchbar. tested it on my system with no problems ; Mint 13 with Firefox 38 (which is absolutely horrid!. Slow and unresponsive. FF hasn't been this bad since FF 26. I can't waitnuntil FF 39 is rel...

Re: Can't install ffmpeg

I recall that installing ffmpeg was quite involved for me, but it turned out alright and Mint didn't have to suffer for it. But, darn, I can't remember if I actually had to compile sources for this one. Isn't ffmpeg in the repos? It is for me Mint 13. I had no problem installing ffmpeg. Does this w...

Re: GIMP: installing both stable and dev versions?

I'm no linux expert but I would assume you would have install 2.8 from the repos first then follow my instructions to copy the executable in usr/bin then install 2.9 using the ppa and after installing paste the gimp 2.8 executable in bin/usr and create a launcher to access it. But I could be wrong s...

Re: GIMP: installing both stable and dev versions?

I did never use the dev-version, but in theory it should work. Gimp stores it's settings in a folder in your home named .gimp-{Version-number}. If this applies for the dev version should be readable anywhere in the documentation. Otherwise make a backup of this folder. Launch the dev version and ch...

Re: Gnome Sound Converter Problem

I found the default setting for libmp3lame0 is 160kbps and does not change with Gnome Sound Converter but can be changed when using WinFF or FFMulticonverter. I'm not sure why GSC encodes at 160 kbps them recodes at a higher bitrate.

Re: LAME GUI or auto transcoder?

After doing a little digging, I also found two more called WinFF and soundKonverter but...I don't know if WinFF uses LAME and soundKonverter is a KDE application (although I don't think it matters) and might be a little more than I need. WinFF uses the lame encoder as does ffmpeg for encoding mp3s.

Re: LAME GUI or auto transcoder?

I would recommend FFmultiConverter.

I do not recommend Gnome Sound Converter.

Re: Gnome Sound Converter Problem

all files(FLAC) are encoded to 160 kbps instead of whatever bitrate (320,256,192) I set in the gui. Did you mean that when you convert FLAC files to MP3, the MP3 bitrate is incorrect ? Yes! Instead of converting the FLAC files to 320 kbps (or 256 kbps or 192 kbps) it creates a 320kbps mp3 but with ...

Gnome Sound Converter Problem

Just noticed something strange while using Gnome Sound Converter 1.5.4 on my system (Mint 13 MATE) all files(FLAC) are encoded to 160 kbps instead of whatever bitrate (320,256,192) I set in the gui. When using Audacity to convert files, the files are encoded at the correct bitrate. Only with the set...

Re: More pop-ups despite Adblock + addon for Firefox

Adblock Plus and Adblock Plus Pop-up Addon on Firefox works well for what it was originally designed for but sneaky advertisers are finding ways to get around Adblock and constantly annoy you with infuriating screen ads. Does anyone know how to block those screen ads? If we don't find a way to stop...
