Re: Get iphone 7 Plus Photos Into Cinnamon 18.1

If Dropbox isn't your cup of tea there is another Dropbox type solution called Btsync. The free version will only sync content when you are on your home network, and the upside is that the app for iPhone can be set to automatically sync new photos every time she connects to your home wifi. There are...

Easiest answer is Dropbox. But there are plenty of more complicated answers.

Re: Skanlite and xsane

Thanks Bob I will definitely try that next chance I get. UPDATE: I did a little test today before I left for work, I booted with the 32 bit live cd and installed the drivers from the brother website manually just like I did with my 32 bit machine. It successfully found the scanner and was able to sc...

Re: Google Privacy Error

Check the date and time on your system. If it is off by even a little bit Google will throw this error.

Re: Skanlite and xsane

Thanks for the trying, but that didn't help. I went back and reread the brother install page and purged all the drivers and started from scratch. I even tried to use the 32 bit drivers. I don't know why the 32 bit system works but not the 64 bit, it makes no sense. P.S. I already had a static IP for...

Skanlite and xsane(Solved!)

I have 2 laptops that i installed 18.1 KDE on, one is 32bit and one is 64bit. I have a Brother MFC-490CW that works fine with the 32 bit laptop, but the scanner utility doesn't see the scanner on the 64bit laptop. I used the same installation procedure on both laptops, this is something i refuse to ...

I did exactly what your trying to do, except I used clonezilla to move Vista to a larger hard drive that I put back into the same computer. The only caveat is you have to make the windows partition the exact same size as the original hard drive on OEM systems otherwise windows wont recognize the ins...

Re: Bittorrent Sync User or BTSYNC software install HOWTO

Raspberry Pi is running 1.3, android tablet is running 1.4, and i'm not currently at home so i can't be sure what is on my laptop. I used the link from this post to install btsync-user on my laptop. I can reach the GUI on my laptop but i don't see how to connect the instance that is running on my ra...

Re: Bittorrent Sync User or BTSYNC software install HOWTO

I installed the btsync server on my raspberry pi and have been able to connect to it with my android tablet. I installed btsync user on my laptop but i can't seem to figure out how to connect my server on the raspberry pi. Any help would be appreciated, i want to migrate away from dropbox(owncloud d...

Re: SSH keys

Thanks, but that doesn't help at all. I generated a private key with puttygen that i then exported in openssh format. I imported that private key into connectbot, raspi check, and sshtunnel to access my router and raspberry pi from my android tablet. I want to import that same private key onto my la...

SSH keys

I'd like to import a private key that i generated with putty for use on my laptop that runs mint 13. I've looked all over and can't seem to find a way to import private keys, there is plenty of information on generating keys, but i need to import one that i've already created with putty. I decided t...

Re: Prevent Session Locking

I found your post in hopes of setting up my laptop for my wife in the same manner. I only have one user account because she only uses the laptop to pay bills, but i don't want her to have to log back in if she closes the lid and comes back later. Unchecking the lock session on resume box under power...

Re: Another dual boot question

Sorry to beat this dead horse but i'm not satisfied with the information i've found in my search to set up my laptop EXACTLY like i want it. :? I restored the windows MBR and now EASYBCD bootloader appears with my two choices(Mint first then Vista) which is how i want it. Now when it times out and d...

Re: SSH and TOR

Yes i get that(about work) and no i would be using my own laptop or tablet so no extra software. And I doubt that the local starbucks would have an IT guy monitoring bandwith haha. And the scenario is the actual base for my question: Would SSH over TOR hide the node(my router) from the source don't ...

Re: SSH and TOR

Getting around the location blocks by watchespn is easy, all you have to do is log into TOR and force an exit node inside the US. You can even get around local blackouts in the same manner. Its hiding the connection that interest me. Even if I did log in from work as long as its an SSH connection th...

Re: Remote desktop software

I use TightVNC to do what your wanting to do(it has an option to log in via any web browser so you wouldn't need to have a client with you), you can even make a secure connection if you install an ssh server but you don't have to but you might want to if you plan on logging on from outside your loca...

SSH and TOR

This question isn't linux specific but I've looked other places and can't seem to find a definitive answer. I'm able to log into my router via ssH to reroute internet traffic from a remote location. I've looked at other forums and apparently my efforts to tunnel my ssH connection over the TOR networ...

Re: Another dual boot question

Thanks for the input. I've restored the MBR when I had tried Linux once before and have the disk I need so that shouldn't be an issue.
