Re: Clone MAC address feature doesn't work anymore with Mint 17

Thanks for posting the guts of a script. Not I need to know how to make one and also how to exactly place it and get it to work. It is not as simple as placing it in a windows startup folder.... Not worried about government tracking. Just azzholes who target me and give me grief. If I appear as a di...

Re: Mint 18 Cinnamon Performance issues

On that desktop computer I had to install Lubuntu 32 bit.

I will go back to mint when they get stuff fixed (Like memory problems AND especially the codecs and such to make it work out of the box like it used to)

Re: Mint 18 Cinnamon Performance issues

about xfce and lmde and such lightweight desktops - they do not have some right click features I need. Such as copy to and move to nor open as root. What I need is a KDE desktop without plasma (a resource hog for sure). No cutzie junk either like fading and such or transparencies. Maybe install KDE ...

Re: Mint 18 Cinnamon Performance issues

I could try to find ramdac memory but that will be costly. 17.1 cinnamon 32 bit on a core2duo is tolerable until you get a few 'updates'. Then it begins to bog down from time to time. Nothing like 17.3 and 18. I cannot do that command right now as I am not home. I have linux mint installed on a74gb ...

Mint 18 Cinnamon Performance issues

I tried cinnamon (mint 18) and had several problems. Apparently Nemo dragged down the entire system with continual hard drive writes. Also, I could not get ANY codecs to install. How about putting out a Mint 18.1 that has the fixes AND the codecs? It is far too much work to install codecs separately...

NO SOUND and constant dard drive writes

No sound mint 18 cinnamon 64 bit and 32 bit as well as both has very HEAVY disk writes constantly. How come there is such a large memory leak??? Also, how come codecs were not included? No opwrating system is worth much unless everything works out of the box. I no longer have Mint as an 'out of the ...

Re: Installation Instructions

Recently Microsoft 'accidentally' released their 'golden keys'.

When will Linux incorporate those into the installation?

I sure you like to Dual boot my old Win7 and Mint. So far it has been impossible.

Re: Mint 18 Noob: Pulseaudio or ALSA?

I had to download an older version of Mint and wipe everything then reinstall and use another 1/7th of my expensive data plan to do it. Cost now to get my desktop working 'out of the box' has not reached $20. At least it 'works out of the box' like we expect. Why can't they quit screwing around with...

Re: Mint 18 Noob: Pulseaudio or ALSA?

I fought with this (no sound) for hours last night and still can't get it to work. That was a lane-brain idea of developers to not include sound hardware detection and codecs incorporation into Mint18. It cost me 1/7th my expensive data plan to install and try to get sound working last night. Now I ...

Re: Linux-Unix cheat sheets - The ultimate collection

Tool boxes weigh more than my laptop! lol

So I don't carry them around.

You are right about flash drives.

Also unless your flash drive is in fat32 or ntfs, you are stuck using linux to read them

Re: How to sandbox Firefox on Linux Mint?

I know that apparmor exists and yet have never seen any gui for it. This makes it difficult for many users to use. Manual configuring is not my cup of tea so to speak. Most people are very busy and do not have the time to tinker with settings of app armor then test it hoping they got it right or eve...

firejail has a gui and apparmor doesn't?

You have no idea if apparmor works or not. At least with firejail you see *something*.

Re: How to sandbox Firefox on Linux Mint?

I could perhaps write up a tutorial for Linux Mint if there is interest. It could indeed interest a lot of users. And I'm one of them  Count me in as a very interested user as well! Doug I would be interested in a nice tutorial as well. One that goes from obtaining the program, i...

I opened a terminal then cd ./directory where firejail then chmod +x install.sh then sh install.sh it says installing then goes back to the command line I tried the mkdeb.sh one too and it posts lots of errors (directory not found t...
