Re: Software Update Manager should run after boot or wake-up

Have you considered reducing the update interval to 3 minutes? If the length of a typical session is <5 minutes, the system would have enough time to check for updates before you ended the session. Of course I have, but then, in a (not so often) longer session, after all 3 minutes Mint searches for...

Re: Software Update Manager should run after boot or wake-up

If you want your operating system to take over may I respectfully suggest that Linux is not for you? Yes, you are absolutely right. I shall delete now my Mint partition and add the freed space to my Windows 7 partition with gparted booted from a live USB stick and created with the outstanding mkusb...

Re: Software Update Manager should run after boot or wake-up

This is indeed a problem in Mint, but thankfully it's easy to fix: you can set Update Manager to check for new updates at boot time. Like this: https://sites.google.com/site/easylinuxtipsproject/20#TOC-Consider-increasing-the-interval-for-checking-for-new-updates (item 2, left column) That forces M...

Re: Software Update Manager should run after boot or wake-up

The best place for feature suggestions is the Community Website (http://community.linuxmint.com/). I cannot create an account there, because a registration code is needed, and you only get it via the IRC chat channel. But nobody answers there, and there are only 7 members logged in currently. I won...

Software Update Manager should run after boot or wake-up

(The following holds for all versions of Ubuntu, too, but I ask it here.) Currently, I use my Mint 17.2 only 2-3 times a week to read my email and to do other every-day tasks such as doing bank transfers. All this takes no more than 5 minutes. Then I tell my Mint to go to sleep into hibernate mode o...

Re: Cannot connect bluetooth device properly

simplex ; Try a live usb of Linux Mint with KDE DE. Here running well bluetooth options, I thing it is because KDE uses bluedevil instead blueman and QT libraries. I think that the issue is in de Desktop Environment (cinnamon, fork of gnomeshell; mate, fork of gnome2) On the Mint KDE 17.2, the LG-E...

Re: Cannot connect bluetooth device properly

The Sony phone must have the browse file system over bluetooth disabled and it might be a setting the user cannot change as your bluetooth chipsets are almost identicle and have the same Vendor/Product ID I think you are right. I have tested now the two dongles on a third laptop, my Dell Latitude 6...

Re: "Log me on automatically each visit" does not work for m

It was copy&paste from a post. But after nearly 30 years of Unix, there should be no difference between

move abc/ somewhere
and
move abc somewhere

given that abc is a folder.

[SOLVED] "Log me on automatically each visit" does not work

So is mine... BTW: The following exchanges of .mozilla <-> .mozilla-simplex somehow destroyed all my FF data. Fortunately, I could restore everything via synchronizations of FFs on on my other machines: $ mv .mozilla/ .mozilla-simplex $ mv .mozilla-simplex .mozilla $ mv .mozilla/ .mozilla-simplex $ ...

Re: Cannot connect bluetooth device properly

Can you provide lsusb; uname -a; dmesg | egrep -i 'blue|firm'; hciconfig -a from both computers I think what you mean is lsusb > out.txt; uname -a >> out.txt; dmesg | egrep -i 'blue|firm' >> out.txt; hciconfig -a >> out.txt But the output is huge (110 lines per each command). I do not want to post ...

Re: Cannot connect bluetooth device properly

See if blueman-services in terminal brings up the window Yes, it does. And I have never seen this window before. I am now completely confused and at the edge of desperation. Re: "Log me on automatically each visit" does not work for m

2) Open your file manager; press Ctrl+h; rename the .mozilla folder to .mozilla-simplex That was a wonderful idea, and I am little bit ashamed that it did not come to my own mind (and I know how to use the command line). You are absolutely right: With a fresh .mozilla folder, I am logged in each ti...

Re: Cannot connect bluetooth device properly

I was messing around with it in Ubuntu this morning and noticed that there isn't an icon for Blueman like Linux Mint has. In the picture the Blueman indicator is the black bluetooth symbol and the lighter bluetooth symbol is for the built in bluetooth manager Yes, on Xubuntu, there is also this &qu...

Re: Cannot connect bluetooth device properly

On my Xubuntu 14.04, the bluetooth icon is part of the indicator-plugin area. Right-clicking it just pops up a menu to change the indicators. Left-clicking it lets me switch on and off bluetooth, make my device visible or not, has a menu option to configure a new device (which searches endlessly for...
