Re: Reduce minimum word length for forum search

It would probably be best to disable the site search and integrate google seach results into the forum itself

The main phpbb3 site does this: https://www.phpbb.com/search/?q=google+search

Re: Single Mouse Click

I must say, I've never known why we need to double click folders/files rather than single click. It seems inconistent with everything else and doesn't seem to serve any proper function

Dell XPS 15z - Install Linux Mint 14 or 15

I thought I would write a quick tutorial on how to get Linux Mint 14 running on the Dell XPS 15z as the other guides on the interent didn't work for me and I thought this might be helpful to others (UPDTAE: These also work for LM 15) The instructions at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/HardwareSupport/Machin...

Reduce minimum word length for forum search

Hi I commonly try to use the forum search but it always requires me to search a mimimum of 5 characters. I think this is too restrictive and means most my searches have not worked. For example I'm trying to see any relevant posts about my laptop Dell XPS 15z Mint 14 As you can see none of those word...

Re: Cant boot into Mint, boot loader is messed up?

Do you have a CD you can put mint on? If so, boot the live CD and go to the desktop (dont install) You can try something called boot-repair, a GRUB repair tool. Not sure if mint has it by default, search 'boot repair' and run it. If not, connect to the internet and follow these instructions https://...

Volume applet text does not disappear.

Linux Mint 14 Cinnamon 1.6.7 Well it does disappear when I move my mouse away normally but sometimes, if i change the volume and then move the mouse away quickly, it doesn't disappear. I have to hover over and then move mouse away to get it away. I can't reproduce under specific steps, it just seems...

Re: Cinnamon

This sounds like this issue: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linuxmint/+bug/1088328

It would be interesting to see if you have any similar system specs

BMO and Orbmiser, could you type lspci in terminal and post the output?

Edit: Use AlbertP's command

Re: Automatic Bug Reports

Thanks for the reply, I have submitted a few bugs to github, that does seem the best place. I have started going through the recent bugs on launchpad and trying to organise it/help out a bit, but wow, there's a lot of reports! I guess there are too many reports for the team to have time to review. I...

Re: Switching to MINT?

Welcome to the community! Linux Mint is generally regarded to be much more customisable in comparison to other desktop environments like Unity of Gnome3. I'm personally using Cinnamon which I can customise alot and really get it working the way I want. One of the reasons Linux Mint was started was b...

Re: Automatic Bug Reports

I'd also like to know the same thing. I like helping test Ubuntu and apport works really well in grabbing all the crash information required. I haven't been able to find anything similar for Linux Mint. Cinnamon has crashed a few times so I've needed to restart my system. It would be much better if ...

Re: Mint 14 Review LAS

A lot of other reviews I've seen about Linux Mint 14 are either very biased for or against it, which doesnt make a good review.

But I like these guys. They are very honest and make good justified points. They're also pretty funny

Re: Software manager does not work most of the time - no err

Thanks Vincent, good to see some fixes are in progress.

Do you know if they will fix the issue that people have mentioned of the progress bar getting stuck at a certain point (about 16%)? As this is something I experience quite regularly too.

Re: How to take screenshots in Mint13 Cinnamon? PrtSc notwor

Thanks karlchen. Personally, I don't mind too much now I know where it's being saved. I've had to delete quite a few screenshots of when I was trying to work out why it wasn't working though  But the point is people who don't read this thread aren't going to know where it's being saved. Cinnamo...
