Hi,

I think you can try to create another user, then install / try the software required one-by-one.

Re: Why does WebCT require Java?

Hi,

That error _most probably_ came from the website's faulty detection

If you can use it, then it's actually fine ...

You can direct the complaints to the site administrator tho

Re: New and Old Versions of Supertuxkart

Hi,

I think you can try the binary version of 0.6.2 from here

http://sourceforge.net/projects/supertu ... art/0.6.2/

You'll want the linux1486 version

'Normally', you just need to unzip it in your home, and run the main binary

Hi,

It should be possible to permanently replace the icon by replacing specific files in the current icon-theme's installation directory

Re: Menu entry for binary program

Hi,

You might want to put the command to

"/home/myname/linuxDoukutsu-1.01/cave story"

is the binary name correct?

If still get error, you can try below

"/home/myname/linuxDoukutsu-1.01/cave story 1>>$HOME/doukutsu-error.txt 2>>&1"

Re: Install French language Mint on standalone pc

Hi,

What I would do is to use Synaptic, just select the packages you wanted, then File | Generate file

If you open the file, you'll see the exact link to download the DEB files.

Hi,

You may want to look here http://www.fs-security.com/docs/persistence.php

Re: New Laptop compatibility with Linux

Hi,

A very easy way to test is to burn a CD with LinuxMint on it.

Then bring it to the shop, asks for any laptop, and test boot it with Mint LiveCD inside.

If every feature looks OK, it will be OK to install, so test it :D

Re: Document Scanning

Hi,

Not sure whether Helena got any decent scanning app, but you can always use GIMP...

A later version of mint has simple-scan (search in Software Manager), If it's not there then I think you might need to upgrade
