Re: Booting Tessa with Nvidia equals Software Rendering Mode Nightmare

I'm impressed by Windows 10 compatibility with old hardware Good. Install it. https://www.zdnet.com/article/windows-10-no-longer-supported-how-to-tell-if-your-pc-is-eligible-for-latest-version/ "The population of devices that are being cut off from support is a tiny fraction of the installed base o...

& I've always assumed that it's an speed issue - as I've an MBB connection ..
It's a rendering issue. I see it too and I have high-speed NBN.

Re: Quick Question: Win10 dual boot with Mint

I am assuming that the FOB was not made as a UEFI flash drive, how do I make it UEFI compatible, or force it to install in UEFI mode? Usually you press your machine's BIOS boot key, which will show you a list of devices. If the flash device is capable of being booted in UEFI mode then it will have ...

I could find nothing much about your device and running linux on it. From what I've read, you have to well and truly hack it. To be honest, I doubt that you'll get much help with that here.

I am trying to install linux mint 19.1 (cinamon) on my new laptop ASUS TUF 705 (Bios ver 301) Is there any compatibility issue with the hardware? I find bewildering that the BIOS is stated to be 301 yet you haven't checked for or updated it to the latest version, which is 304. That should be your f...

Re: Too many problems with any nvidia driver greater than version 384.

The GTX 950 was released in August 2015. It's not even 5 years. I know, but I realised a long time ago that video cards, despite their cost, are actually consumables. As software demands advance, the video card is the first noticeable victim. Now I plan to replace my video card every three years. T...

Well Spit it out, there are a few of us interested now. (FWIW - mine was a rhetorical question - many certainly did not predict the computer revolution) My grandfather lived to see man Fly and then Land on the Moon. Not too many would have predicted either of those events. Technology tends to refle...

Re: Cannot boot into linux mint 19.1 with elitebook 840 g3

What gets me is the bios not even seeing the installation media and I cannot find how to enable the legacy boot option in the Elitebook 840 G3 bios. This may not help, but nowadays "legacy boot" is more often referred to as CSM, as in Compatibility Support Module. See if your BIOS has an option goi...

Display Server: X.Org 1.18.4 drivers: nvidia, nouveau (unloaded: fbdev, vesa) That might be the cause. One video card is using the nVidia driver and the other is using the open source driver. Ideally you want the nVidia driver to control both cards. You can use the CoolBits xorg option to force the n...

You mentioned the importance of being highly selective of which Firefox Add-ons to trust. What is your opinion of Ghostery, Ublock Origin, and Noscript? NoScript is a real pain, and bug-riddled.
