It runs perfectly well under the stock kernel 5.0, and the installation instructions could not be any simpler... In a terminal: sudo apt install build-essential Download and ext...

Re: Create, make your own customize, personalized linux mint?

That's why we have disk imaging software, such as clonezilla. I don't understand what you mean. Once your system is set up just as you want it, you take a disk image using a disk imaging tool. You can then restore that image to other machines provided their hard disk is at least the same size as th...

Re: Create, make your own customize, personalized linux mint?

I was wondering, if it's possible(easy and not time consuming) for normal PC user to somehow create his own personalized linux mint installation image already with all custom settings and per-installed software? That's why we have disk imaging software, such as clonezilla. Still: https://help.ubunt...

How would we know?

Anyway, you say you "tried to use r8125 realtek download...". What exactly was wrong?

I have the r8125 running nicely.

And even worse: this thread is from May 2011 ... It's 8 years old. So much has changed since then that it's not worth commenting on. If you have a specific problem you need help with, please say so. If software RAID scares you so much, don't use it; buy a hardware RAID card and a SFF-8087 SATA cabl...

If I hover my mouse pointer above the Mint menu button, it gives me info about the system (In my case it reads "Linux Mint 19.2 Tina") that's the sort of Info needed to zero in on problems.
That is totally inadequate information for the OP's problem. The output of inxi -Fxz is needed here.

Re: Is there an upgrade path to LM 19 within Mint itself?

...almost forgot it was Mint I installed because of all the Linux Lite stuff that showed up in my system settings. I would recommend that you take the clean install route. Who knows what kind of damage has been done, plus an in-place upgrade is highly likely to carry any problems over to the new in...

I miss Neko the little cat. How do I install Amor in Linux Mint Cinnamon ? https://github.com/KDE/amor It looks like you will have to compile it, but you should expect trouble because you won't be able to install it without any required dependencies, and even then, it appears to be a specifically p...

It would help to know more about your system setup. If you run "inxi -Fxzd" and "lsusb" from the console terminal prompt, highlight the results, copy and paste them back here, that should provide enough information.

Nothing more need be said. If you implement encryption then you are setting your friend up for failure if his experience with linux is limited.

I've been testing various distros for 2 weeks. I'm thoroughly in love with Mint Mate. I've already had to re-install a few times bc I'm a newb. Not a problem really. But everytime I do, I have to do a few things all over again to get back to a solid baseline how I like it. For that, once your syste...
