Do you guys know when we are getting the latest version of sudo (1.8.28) for Mint?
We will get it when it shows up as an update.

It would help to know more about your system setup. If you run "inxi -Fxzd" and "lsusb" from the console terminal prompt, highlight the results, copy and paste them back here, that should provide enough information.
Copy/paste technical support. You must be joking.

Note; I also tried logon from Vista/Internet explorer (this is a dual-boot machine, so hardware is identical.) With the same result.
In that case, you should contact McDonalds.

Nothing more need be said. If you implement encryption then you are setting your friend up for failure if his experience with linux is limited.

Re: Timeshift and the Settings Cont. - A Few Basic Questions

I've been testing various distros for 2 weeks. I'm thoroughly in love with Mint Mate. I've already had to re-install a few times bc I'm a newb. Not a problem really. But everytime I do, I have to do a few things all over again to get back to a solid baseline how I like it. For that, once your syste...

Try this..
client max protocol = NT1
Depending on the version of Windwoes, and on the version of samba installed on the linux machine, it is quite possible that is not going to work. NT1 (SMB1) is disabled by default.

An update - I've tried adding this to the smb.conf file under the Global section as was suggested on a few forum threads I'd found, but to no avail...

Code: Select all

client max protocol = SMB3
That should probably be min, not max.

Is there a way to modify the launcher to start it maximized?
Have you tried right-clicking the window title bar and reading the menu that pops up?

I've done some searching on how to connect this drive as a local drive, but everything I've found so far carries warnings about possibly losing all your data! I can't afford that risk. If you can't afford the risk, don't do it. It's that simple. https://www.serverwatch.com/server-tutorials/using-a-...

You don't say? Except that Mint is not Ubuntu and Ubuntu devs don't appear to post here at all, let alone the Mint devs.

I reverted back to 4.18.0-25 and then the monitor is working.
Perhaps you ought to see how kernel 4.15 goes for you. 4.18 is a dead end, but 4.15 is LTS.

That's from February this year. The second answer is reported to have worked on Mint 19.1.
