My question is, is this because Linux Mint is set to use a TCP connection and because I used UDP it conflicted?
No. UDP is the correct protocol.
how can I remedy this the next time I make that UDP selection?
Try a different server.

Re: File location question

I move my trash locations like this: ln -s /media/boot/HWRAID10-0/Trash /home/boot/.local/share/Trash So, move your files to where you want them then use this format to create a link: ln -s <dest> <source> <dest> points to where you moved the directory to and <source> creates a link where you moved ...

Re: Install which driver for Areca ARC-1220 & Linux Mint ?

#1: When I look at the Areca website list of drivers at http://www.areca.us/support/s_linux/linux.htm for the ARC-1220 I don't see Linux Mint referenced. There are Ubuntu and Debian kits but I have no idea which to install in Linux Mint v18.3. ending checking the driver in Linux. How can I get info...

When VM exits does it release the full memory it was using " 2 gB " back to Linux Mint ?
Yes, it should but the linux kernel can actually hang on to it until it's needed. This fools a lot of people into thinking they have a memory leak when it's just the kernel caching.

No problem with noise here. I have so many fans that my machine levitates when I turn it on. I'm also deaf. Beethoven - with Maharishi machine  I get pulled over regularly by the police for the super-loud rock 'n roll blaring out of my eight speaker system in my sports coupe. They complain...

Re: Trouble installing virtualbox

... Sorry, I forgot to add sudo to the rest of the command. Based on the error you report, the old VBox is still installed. Do this in a terminal: sudo apt remove --purge virtualbox* The code above assume you're using Mint 18.x. If you're using 17.x then change apt to apt-get . Afterwards, repeat t...

Impossible? 2025 - that means in 7 years - we are on Mars, as experts assure me in various forums. A combined computer housing with stove plate should not be a big challenge for gifted technicians. The microwave oven was created after British radar technicians noticed that their radar units kept th...

Looking for ways to have some windows apps through a dedicated virtual machine. What applications for the VM would you recommend? Running Linux Mint 18.3 on Lenovo with i5 processor. Re: Virtual Machines

Wine is rubbish Wine worked for a project where VirtualBox failed. VMware or something else might have worked, VirtualBox did not. In your case, yes, that's probably true, but it isn't accurate for the majority. I've been using VMs for many years with little or no trouble whatsoever. I feel that th...
