Re: LM18.3 queries on boot fsck check

1. Has LM18+ always done this? No. (Would the RAID to be mounted this early?) Possibly. 2. Every so often, instead of a quick flash of text I can actually see the % counter whizzing thru 0 to 100%. It still only takes a second or so but it does suggest that there was something that needed checking....

Re: Cinnamon crashed after installing the new kernel.

hi CW...i think that would depend on just how old his nvidia card hardware is in relationship to just what driver update is applied...would not the age of the nvidia unit make some difference ?...DAMIEN To a point, yes, old cards are removed from driver support by nVidia but it doesn't make the sit...

believe it or not this may possibly be a problem with conflict between nvidia drivers and the kernel...
The same configuration works fine for me, and there aren't many reports of it not working so that cannot be correct.

Re: Cinnamon crashed after installing the new kernel.

Can anyone assist. I still cannot use cinnamon while on the 4.15.0-30 kernel. I complete removed the 4.15.0-32 kernel without any change in status. How did you install the kernel? How did you install the nVidia driver? What version of the driver did you install? Please post the output of this termi...

Re: Is this a problem?

Hi, I had a problem getting the Nvidia driver to install but I got it installed and it works fine. Now the Mint splash screen ( with the dots) on boot and shutdown are a different resolution. Problem? Thanks I wouldn't worry about it. It's probably a grub setting that needs changing to rectify the ...

you failed to mention just what is different about the resolution...
It's either higher or lower. In either case, the fix is the same.

PS: your spell checker needs to be updated. The correct spelling is Windows... unless you are under 17 years old.
My spell checker always changes Windows to Windwoes.

Re: How to add mounted NTFS partition to the home/as another drive

I honestly and truly hope I am dead wrong about this but I think you have a bigger problem. Before 1) you should have disabled "Fast Startup" in Win10 and performed a full shutdown. I think Linux believes this E Drive is in a hybrid hibernated state which is why it is mounting it read only. The pro...

Blame or thank gm10 for these new features We blame @gm10 for everything. That's usually a good approach! I blame you for not giving h2-1 some feedback though after all the effort and research he put into this: Since I have only a limited number of usb devices, further tests would be nice if anyone...

Looking good. Two more commands to run and your spring cleaning will be all done. :) sudo rm /boot/initrd.img-4.10.0-40-generic apt purge linux-*4.13* Don't mind me. I'm just seeing if there's anything around that you can be blamed for. https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?p=1511871#p1512405 :)

How true, thanks. No worries. Cheers. In the future I should suggest if they have installed most of what the think they need then double what your using. The problem then is that the partition will need to be expanded, which implies shrinking and moving others. 32GB is, I think, a happy middle-grou...

there's an option in Clonezilla under "Advanced options" to make it skip checking partition size.
