Re: Chrome browser is locked

this is a PITA and is totally unnecessary. @administrollaattori is correct, but opinions differ on the security risk of setting a blank password. As you use autologon, you need to ask yourself if it's a further security risk to not use the keyring. I use autologon and one of the first things I do i...

Now with LM i get sound out of bluetooth headphones but not the speakers or plug-in headphones.
Try installing pavucontrol and use it to set the correct output device.

Re: Mint 17 Cinnamon: Totem & VLC: Can't get either to display subtitles

I've tried both VLC and Totem, loading the *.srd files. Neither displays the subtitles. I went through the preferences of each. As a general rule, subtitles should have the same name as video file, with a different extension. Most video players will auto-load the subtitles when the name is the same.

Alt-mouse drag
apt install dconf-tools

Run the dconf editor from the main menu. Navigate to org > cinnamon > desktop > wm > preferences and change the mouse-button-modifier.

Set it to <Ctrl> or <Super>, but don't leave it empty.

The forums 'self police' in some respect. You will notice there were no further responses to that thread and I often see a situation where someone has been rude several times and their new questions simply don't get any responses.
Indeed, it is so.

Re: Dual-Monitor Display on LM18.3 KDE?

In KDE I've copied over some of the same very wide wallpaper, but no settings for 'Spanning' wallpaper. And any screensaver I chose acts independently on each monitor. That's how KDE handles screens. If you want to have a desktop image span two screens, you need to split your images into left and r...

Cerebro is not listed in the Menu Panel or the Main Menu.
Cerebro is delivered as an AppImage so you can simply use the menu editor to add an icon and link to the image.

Re: AMD Ryzen 3 2200G, any chance of installing Mint on that ?

Anybody has tried it ? It doesn't seem to have any Linux drivers on AMD site, not even for WIndows 7. Mint 18.3 installs fine on Ryzen gear. You will need to go to at least kernel 4.11 to get proper support. As for drivers, all drivers, except printer drivers, are built into the kernel in linux so ...

Re: How do you reduce the allocated storage size of a virtual machine?

Enlighten us, how you do something, where the Oracle documentation says in chapter 8.23, that this is not possible: I already provided the link and listed some of the limitations. Edit: The quote refers to a feature of the VBox manager, which cannot be used to reduce the size of a disk. It does not...

Re: Need a ISO based Back Up System

I created a System Image of my main Cinnamon 18.3 HDD and Re-Imaged my test HDD...which is the one I'm running now...worked just fine...so these users are doing something wrong. I might write some instructions on how to create an Image as there are none for Linux using Macrium...stay tuned. :D That...

hi,
I downloaded Linux Mint 18.3 KDE and installed in VBOX.
All is working fine, but I am not able to install lxQT desktop along side with KDE desktop.
How will I do this?
You're creating a frankendesktop and headed for trouble. If you must have lxQt, use an lxQt distro.

Like it says in the very first sentence, "This repository may no longer be available..."

Use Software Sources to select new local mirrors, and to remove duplicated sources.

Please post the output of this terminal command:

Code: Select all

ls /boot
Enclose the results in code markers "</>", which you can select from the mini toolbar above the textbox where you type your reply.

Do the same with this command:

You're using 17.3, so you need to download packages for Ubuntu Trusty or 14.04.

That's the problem. You've probably got a separate boot partition and it's full. You're going to have to remove some old kernels.
