Re: What's better for Linux

Agreed, but is there really only one kernel? I've hopped over 15+ distros in the past year before choosing Mint and none of them were running the same version of the kernel. Just because there are versions, it doesn't follow that there are different kernels per se. There is only one kernel but it h...

Re: Cpu s made with different Nm technology

Hi there is one cpu in my machine wich is using 28Nm process while the other is using 56 nm process. Will the first one have twice the number of transistors or some other number? Does it have a formula to compare the number of transistors between the two CPUs? Short answer: No and no. Long answer: ...

What if that one distro they all got behind was one you didn't like the style of?
Or if it didn't like you or your hardware?

Re: New Linux User - Please Help With Nvidia Drivers

I'm not sure if this is the cause of my problem, but the nvidia prime applet on my task bar is indicating that the Nvidia Prime is not setup correctly. Driver manager has nvidia-driver-390 selected... but also says that "no proprietary drivers are in use". My thought was that the nvidia drivers are...

Re: Skipping GRUB menu

Hi! I installed LMDE 3 today (before I was using Linux Mint 19) and I would like to skip the GRUB menu that appear at the start, in fact I only have LMDE3 installed on my pc. I didn't have this "problem" with Linux Mint 19, the GRUB menu didn't appear, but it does with LMDE3. How can I skip the GRU...

The actual software never even runs at all...just nothing happens.
You might try running it from the terminal. If there are errors, they should be displayed.

Oh, but I am a developer. I'm just not a Mint developer.

True, LM 19 is garbage... hope 19.1 will be better but i think not...sadly
You're going about getting assistance with your OS issues in the wrong way. Bad-mouthing Mint won't get you far. Describing your problem coherently and reporting error messages and systems might get you a bit further.

Re: Just say NO to Mint19

My statement "quite a few are having trouble" was only meant to apply to using Wine in Mint 19, apologies if I did not make that clear. Again, the problems with wine are due to poorly written instructions at winehq. People seem to go there without even checking the repositories. Many wine problems ...

.... wine (any version) and mint 19 simply does not mix well atm So how do you explain others having it running perfectly fine in Mint 19? I certainly have not got enough technical knowledge to answer that, however, it's pretty clear to see that quite a few are having trouble, when they didn't with...

Re: Linux Mint 18.3 is better than 19 ... Why? I hope main developer see this

The sad thing is that many old devs that made 16.04 apps wont update them to 18.04. This is one important reason why Linux Mint fall behind in DistroWatch. The top 1 is now a Arch distro. Dev's really don't give a s*** about your open threads in a forum... So, what applications are there that exist...

I guess the only way to fix this issue is to reinstall the OS. Thanks
Well, no, it's not. The correct way to proceed is to follow the advice in the error message then post any other error messages back here. But hey, it's your time and your machine.
