Re: Window manager options.
The point is that Cinnamon uses a lot mor memory than E that use about the same as XFfce. The problem for me is not memory that I have more than enough. There is pretty much only one Distro that is active enough and has the software anyone could need and that is Mint. Unfortunately Mint does not properly support THE best DE available - Enlightenment - that is lightweight and configurable. The only Distro that properly supports E is Bodhi where the l...

Re: Do I need a SWAP file or partition? (8GB RAM)
Having a swap partition is necessary for hibernation and I think for suspend. It is also a safety precaution should you run out of RAM. However, Linux does not swap unless it has to, and with 8GB RAM that is not likely to happen often :) So the answer is, technically you do not need it but I would V...

Re: Looking to buy new computer. Would Mint work on this?
If Windows 8 truly doesn't allow Linux to be installed, how are people going to get computers for Linux going forward? Most/all PC will be sold with Windows 8 installed. Is there a way around for that? I suspect that the UEFI/Secure Boot issue will get sorted out, at least to some degree, with time...

Supposedly Android device compatibility will be better in Mint 15 as Ubuntu is just releasing better Android support
