Re: Asensin sitten Linux Mint 13:a

No onpas sinulla paljon ongelmia Mintin kanssa.

Re: Linux Mint 8 "Helena" released!

Great work again! Everything works really well, nothing bad to say about Helena. I'll recommend Mint to everyone who's moving to Linux-World. As i've done before also... All releases of Mint i have tested have been just great.

Hats off!

I have Mint 8 now and my Pixma MX300's scanner works fine with it (of course), so this case is closed.

Re: If your scanner doesn't work

I solved my scanner problem (Canon Pixma MX300) by installing both, XP and Linux (Mint). Well, i had to install XP anyway because of my atk -studies, but... When i need to scan, which is rare, i boot to XP. Mint is (of course :)) my main os. This doesn't solve the original problem, i know, but it is...

Re: Canon Pixma MX300 scanner in Gloria

Good news, kind of. I tried MX300 with the Ubuntu 9.10 live-cd, and everything, scanner too worked like a charm straight away. So, i'm going to use the live-cd with my scannings until things get better with Mint too. No energy and interest to hassle with this anymore. I'm going to peek in this topic...

Re: Canon Pixma MX300 scanner in Gloria

I've had help with this case in the Finnish Ubuntu -forum also, but no luck. The lack of the usb -rights (permissions or something like that) was the best guess there. No solution for that one though.

Re: Canon Pixma MX300 scanner in Gloria

Please take a look here My brain is kind of jammed at the moment with this scanner -thing. Can't think straight... I guess i should take a break, breath deep couple of days and get back to it when i'm cooled down. :) I'll then read that article again. Still, if someone has a 'straight to the point'...

Re: Canon Pixma MX300 scanner in Gloria

Hmmm, but nothing's changed even if i do have sane and sane-backend etc... I tried every code mentioned in this topic, no scanner. Then i put my tv card back (don't ask why, i'm desperate...) to it's place and tried everything again, and now 'scanimage -L' and Xsane finds something, surprise, they f...

Re: Canon Pixma MX300 scanner in Gloria

If you have SANE you might have SANE backend which basically is the driver This brings the question - have you installed any driver? (for the scanner) The Open Printing database only talks about the printer part of multifunction devices I think i have Sane, because when i did sudo apt-get install s...

Re: Which version of Mint to chooce?

Easaurus, have you ever got that monitor working with your graphics card, in any OS? No i haven't. I've tried Ubuntu 8.04, Xubuntu 8.04, Xubuntu 8.10 and Mint Felicia Xfce live-cd. Ok, no worries. It's high time for a new pc anyway. And that's a good thing, because then they can too have The Great ...

Re: Which version of Mint to chooce?

If you're patient, Gloria XFCE is on its way to an RC (just needs to be approved by clem now) Yep, i'm patient. But do you mean that Gloria Xfce can handle the 1680x1050 resolution just like that? I'm asking that because i just remembered that i have tried _Felicia_ Xfce live-cd in my parents pc an...

Which version of Mint to chooce? [SOLVED]

I'm looking for a suitable version of Mint for my parents quite old pc. It is about 5 years old some DTK (i can check the exact model if needed) with very modest graphics card (no Linux-driver for it i understood) etc. and only 256 mb of ram, so i guess it must be some light edition. They have new 2...

Re: Canon Pixma MX300 scanner in Gloria

Well, i'm sure that i have Xsane- and sane -named programs in my system. What about sane-backend or something like that? I've read somewhere about that, but didn't understand that much of it. If i have sane, do i automatically have sane-backend also? And if i do, should i do something about it, con...

Re: Canon Pixma MX300 scanner in Gloria

Ouch - I'm out of suggestions for now I just wonder why this Canon model is ranked in "works perfectly in Linux" category in the OpenPrinting web site? Or maybe i've missed some really basic thing in this operation to get the scanner working... Let's see. Usb -cabel is connected, because ...

Now terminal says nothing, when i give this:

Code: Select all

sudo chmod a+rw /dev/bus/usb/001/006

And Xsane finds nothing...

EDIT: Xsane gives these possible reasons why it doesn't find anything:

Re: Canon Pixma MX300 scanner in Gloria

I started on a reply but it disappeared I have added a (the?) solution for Gloria in the "scanner topic" In your case the scanner/printer now seems to be at Bus 001 Device 006 You could try what pdc_2 recommends sudo chmod a+rw /dev/bus/usb/001/006 Of course 006 Now start xsane and see if...
