Re: Why do people hate Gnome?

Thanks guys.
After counting the votes I see that most of you liked Cinnamon the most, along with other desktops.
So, I'm gonna go with Cinnamon.
Although, I'm not sure if I should wait until Linux Mint 15 because it looks so good. Specially with that HTML 5 login screen.

Why do people hate Gnome?

Why do people hate Gnome? And what Desktop Environment would you recommend for a newbie? I see a lot of people saying Gnome sucks and they hate Ubuntu. I'm new to Linux. So I have no idea what they are talking about. I've used Cinnamon and Gnome. I liked them both. I really don't have the time to tr...

Where can I find a driver for Sis mirage 3?

I've installed Linux Mint 13 on my old PC which has an on-board SiS Mirage 3 graphics card. PC works fine after the installation. Everything appears fine. But there's a problem with the driver. It seems to slow down my PC and also when I play videos it looks choppy and can't see anything. I searched...

Re: No sound Mint 13 Maya new instalation

Did you install the drivers for your sound card?
Try running Preferences > Additional Drivers to find drivers for your Sound card.
If you know the model of your sound card you can find the drivers via the Synaptic Package Manager too.

Re: add a font

Try installing the Font Manager from the Synaptic Package Manager.
And then you can install, remove, preview fonts from that software.

Re: Mint 13 desktop froze

Same thing happened to me. I was watching a video on VLC plarer while running another software and downloading some stuff. I think Mint 13 is not yet ready for handling multiple tasks. Although, I am running the OS on bit of an old computer with Intel Celeron CPU and 1.5 GB RAM.

How To Fix Monitor Resolution Problem in Mint 13 +Nvidia

After installing Mint 13 on my desktop, and updating the NVIDIA graphics card with the current updates, I ran into a problem with the resolution of the monitor. It only offered me the 800 x 600 option to choose when it can go up to 1360 x 768, and it also detected my monitor as a laptop. This was pa...

Re: Software Manager not working in Linux Mint 13

Re: Resolution options not showing up

Ok nevermind. After a lot searching, reading and reinstalling I've found a way to fix the problem. I've installed the Nouveau display driver. and now it works fine on 1024x768 resolution. Performance is a little bit slow, which I think is caused by the effects on Cinnamon. But things are pretty good.

[Solved] Resolution options not showing up

Hi, I'm having a bit of a trouble trying to set my desktop resolution to 1024x768. It was the default resolution that I've been using on Windows. But after installing Linux Mint 13 cinnamon and updating drivers, it's not showing up anymore. Only 800x600 is available for me to select. I've been searc...
