Re: Why differences in CPU demand between XFCE and Mate?

I would second the idea of trying Linux Mint Debian Edition Xfce Edition. That particular version has branched off and is called SolydX. http://forums.solydxk.com/ They have been very friendly over there and I've destroyed a few installs. Who knows in a few years we might both be linux g...

Re: Nvidia Graphics Drivers - Install Guide

I just switched from my old Pny Nvidia TI4600 128mb agp 4x to a Zotac Nvidia GT610 1GB pci and followed the guide Proxima_Centauri created, blacklisting the nouveau driver. Rebooted and working like a champ. Thanks!

Re: UPDATE PACK 4 FEEDBACK THREAD

Updated to Pack 4 on my Aspire One netbook using the 2.6.38-2-686 kernel which I've used for quite awhile with no issues. Rebooted with no serious issues. Only issue I have run into so far is after a while the Synaptics SynPs/2 touchpad quits working, and can be repeated after rebooting so there is ...

Re: UPDATE PACK 3 FEEDBACK THREAD

Other than the click area problem m4daredsun mentioned, I am glad to report update pack 3 is working fine on both my netbook and laptop. One positive to report on my laptop (Toshiba A205) is suspend is working with the 3.0 kernel, whereas 2.6.39 it didn't. Worked with 2.6.38 also.... Anyway, kudos t...

PcLinuxOs also does an excellent job "imho" at being a rolling distro in case you've never checked it out.

Re: Minitube 1.5 in LMDE

Ah, thanks for the info. I hadn't used minitube in awhile but was curious as to why it had quit working. 1.5 works like a charm!

Re: LMDE BREAKAGES - read here first - Update 12 july 2011

I'd hold off 2.7 right now and stick with 2.6.6-14.

Re: We need more testers to the new incoming repo (how-to)

I currently have my toshiba laptop and acer netbook running lmde, just updated the laptop to pack 2 with no issues to report. I'll do the netbook in a few minutes and see how it goes.

*update- no issues with pack 2 on the netbook either.....good stuff ;)

Re: incoming update policy

Weekly or bi-weekly updates seem appropriate under most circumstances, depending on the breakages. I wouldn't set a time in stone as some regressions need more time.

Re: Acer Aspire One

I tried one the other day over at Circuit City, the linux version not the xp one. Overall I was very impressed with it. Frankly I think it has one of the best keyboards I've seen on one of the mini's, has a good feel to it not cramped or spongy. Screen is very clear and bright. I am not too crazy ab...

Re: help

I've never tried this but I think if you open Synaptic, then up at the top left click edit then scroll down and click 'Add cd-rom' whatever packages are on your inserted disc should be available. Hope it works for you.

Good to see you here CaptainTux, I also have been very impressed with Elyssa and have it installed over Vista & Klikit on my Toshiba laptop. I still have Klikit on one of my desktop hard drives, switching between it, Lenny etc. (On the side, I hope & pray all is going great with your church,...
