Re: canon pixma mg6821 Not supported?

Screw it, enough time wasted with this. Looks like HPLIP is the way to go with LM, I'll go exchange for an HP.

Re: canon pixma mg6821 Not supported?

I'm baffled,

Went through installation a couple times. scanner drivers check out as installed, scanner not recognized by simple scan.

Only other thing I can think is maybe .rpm driver rather than .deb is needed?

Any thoughts?

Re: canon pixma mg6821 Not supported?

Well, first problem solved, the Canon website OS selector defaulted to "linux 64bit", but there is a drop down menu to select just "linux" then there are deb drivers. I have printing working with USB, but the scanner driver does not work, and I have no clue how to get it to work ...

canon pixma mg6821 Not supported?

I found this web page, showing this model listed so bought the MG6821: http://tutorialforlinux.com/2016/02/10/how-to-install-canon-pixma-mg6820mg6821mg6822-printers-drivers-on-ubuntu-linux-and-quickstart-scanning-easy-guide/ So I went and bought the printer, then trying to install, the Canon website...

Re: Install onto a hard drive in one computer then transplan

Thanks, I am not certain, but I don't think extra drivers will be necessary. Haven't ever had the need so far.

Re: Installing on a chrome book

I just did it a couple weeks ago onto a c720 2848. There are several methods to choose. It was a bit confusing to me. I don't need the dual boot with chrome nor the Linux OS running within a browser window (shell), but found a method to just install it on the hard drive and boot into it from develop...

Re: xfce version for asus eeepc, too many choices

Just a quick followup, 17.3 xfce is working, no issues to report, except it is pretty slow.

Re: xfce version for asus eeepc, too many choices

Thanks Karl,

Makes sense, but that makes me wonder why the earlier "service packs" 17, 17.1 and 17.2 are still on offer? Do subsequent service packs cause problems for users where they would need to revert?

And yes it is a 32 bit machine.

xfce version for asus eeepc, too many choices

I have an old asus 1005pe eeepc which I have run linux on for years. I don't remember what version of mint I used to run, I think it was maya. I started having pretty major slowing issues, so figured I'd try something even lighter and went with Lubuntu, but have had problems, like it won't update it...

I guess this model isn't popular here with Mint users.

I bought it, hope it works.

Dell e6420 any issues with HDMI output to external monitor

I have had great luck in general from Dell refurb laptops, until the last one, but it had extenuating circumstances. we had a lightning strike and the vga and display port hardware got fried, along with our TV's vga input. Everything else still works fine, but we can not output video to another scre...

Ah, Never mind. I wanted to set these up as working systems with Mint, but I'll just sell the hardware without an OS installed.

Compatible SATA PCI cards for Mint?

Loving mint 17 xfce for several installations, but I have just been beating my head against an installation on an old asus a8v deluxe, and getting no love. I read everything I could find, and it is a known problem that the drive management on the A8V series with Via Southbridge VT8251' is not suppor...
