Re: Remote work help - Need a GlobalProtect GUI
I can now login to the VPN with globalprotect connect -p [portal url] -u [username] (I think the username is redundant, as it asks me again). Put that line into a text document and make it executable to launch from desktop. When you go to connect and it asks for username but already shows your user...

Re: Remote work help - Need a GlobalProtect GUI
The one I used is here https://filetransfer.io/data-package/vVzbQjLF#link You can just create text document and make it executable (right click and under the permissions tab "allow executing as a program") The text file details will be dependent on your provider settings. Straight from the...

Re: Remote work help - Need a GlobalProtect GUI
I used the CLI version for years but also never found a version of the UI frontend that worked.CLI is easy enough though. Just create a launcher for a quick sign in. It all works, 2FA and all. No different than the GUI honestly.

Re: Terminology Oldsters vs Youngsters
Well, I'm old enough my first computer loaded programs off a cassette tape, if that tells you anything, The whole app thing makes me cringe, almost as much as download. "I've downloaded it 20 times but it won't open." Cannot count how many times hearing this. Then I explain, there is a dif...

Re: Does a GPU usage graph for AMD exist?
radeontop works with my Ryzen 5 2500U. Graphics Pipe is the GPU load. This is the highest load recorded when watching a 4K video on youtube.
Code: Select all
sudo apt install radeontop

Re: Farewell my best buddy
I'm sorry to hear about Luna. The loss of a dear friend and family member is difficult to say the least. I lost my goodest girl of 17 years, Ruby (Lemon Basset), about a year and a half ago and it damn near killed me. Freaked my kids out to see me sob like an infant when we had to say goodbye. "...

Re: Booting to Linux using a Thin Client
Found the PPA and got it installed but now I can not get the GUI to load at all. I am in the terminal and that works but no way to get the GUI loaded. What GUI are you trying to load? If it's Epoptes you don't need to use it, though I'm not sure why it would not launch. Try starting it from the com...

Re: Booting to Linux using a Thin Client
You need a PPA for LTSP. The full guide is here https://ltsp.org/docs/installation/
I've used it for years and it works quite well.

Re: The Linux "Copy Problem" and the Mint desktop.
Not sure about the CPU usage issue. Never even tried to monitor such a mundane task. Most writes are complete without a progress window ever opening. That said, you are getting full network bandwidth from between server and client. My setup is very similar to yours with Mint Cinnamon running on R9 5...

Re: Folding@home-Team Linux Mint-76140
Some of you may have noticed that that I have stopped folding. I tried to get some help. https://foldingforum.org/viewtopic.php?p=363358#p363358 I decided to send an email to Gregory Bowman, PhD (The Director of Folding@home). Here is part of my email: “...I was unable to find a technical reason fo...

Re: can i make ethernet link between mint and windows?
It is just intended to save me the trouble and time of downloading those onto a sub stick and walking it over to the other machine, uploading, sending to the requester. You know? It's a sneakernet replacement for times of trouble. :) I wasn't thinking of being able to access the web directly from t...

Re: can i make ethernet link between mint and windows?
Are you looking to share internet connection or files or both between the PC's? If internet only, how many network adapters does/will the host nachine (one sharing it's connection) have? You can use a standard ethernet cable as long as both PC's are newer than 1990's model. No crossover cable requir...
