Also, per Crucial configurator https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatib ... ORYFilters AS Rock H55DE3 requires use of DDR3L (low voltage dimm).
They are both sets 1.5V.

Re: After clearing CMOS Mint 19.1 can’t access File System

Yes @athi, the RAM sticks I bought were of the same voltage, Non-ECC and Unbuffered like the one I had. I checked the manual before buying them. Only difference was the frequency, 1600 instead of 1333Mhz – but they assured me that they automatically clock at the lower frequency – and the capacity, 4...

Re: After clearing CMOS Mint 19.1 can’t access File System

and the RAM sticks are the closest I could find to the original ones, so they are all Corsair DDR3 1333Mhz, just their capacity varies, with the old one at 2GB per module, and new ones at 4GB each, for a total of 12GB if it would have worked.

Re: After clearing CMOS Mint 19.1 can’t access File System

Sorry, I missed the most important part of the story. I am now running only the original 2×2GB RAM modules I had before, as there is no way to make the new RAM work (unless I use a single 4GB module, in single channel mode). I am running the same RAM as this computer had since 2008 when I built it, ...

After clearing CMOS Mint 19.1 can’t access File System

Buongiorno, The other day I received 2 extra RAM modules asmy computer was getting slow with 4GB, and they didn’t work. As: https://i.postimg.cc/hzdS47cd/photo5773920365502902307.jpg as an attempt to make them work I cleared the CMOS via the jumper, and then the computer wouldn’t want to start any m...

Re: After 19.1 install Thunderbird send mail freezes computer

I don’t know, sorry. I can only say that I am on Nightly (Firefox 66.0a1 right now) and Idon’t have this problem: I just moved around some spaces, I can see them, they are still there. I don’t use them anyway as everything in my favourites is organised in folders and subfolder anyway, like a file ma...

Re: After 19.1 install Thunderbird send mail freezes computer

Which Firefox problem? Would you please link it? On the T-Bird side, it occurred randomly a couple of more times to me. The first one I flushed again the cache, on the second one I followed smurphos’ link and applied this fix, so far it works fine for me, plenty of emails sent so far and nothing wro...

Re: Afrer 19.1 install Thunderbird send mail freezes computer

I have the same problem of thunderbird freezing my pc when sending email just after upgrading from mint 19 to 19.1. Re: After 19.1 install Thunderbird send mail freezes computer

Hi Dan, I did as suggested by administrollaattori and it worked fine for me. To tell the truth, I noticed only that my Linux Mint was freezing and hadn’t checked why yet. I was here on the forum for another question, and bumped into yours. thanks for pointing me to the right direction. To clean the ...

Re: Automatic login no longer unlocks keyring in 19.1

thanks gm10, so possibly my request was wrong. There was something that wanted my keyring unlocked at startup, that before was not there. However, after I started reinserting all the passwords in the VPN connections, even though I clicked "cancel" at the prompt of the insert keyring message, the old...

[SOLVED] After automatic login, message to unlock keyring - 19.1

Since when I upgraded to 19.1 from 19 a popup message appears every time I start the computer. as soon as it displays the desktop, this comes out: https://i.postimg.cc/Q9dx4CWn/Screenshot-from-2018-12-23-11-57-50.png To avoid it, I now removed the keyring, as in Seahorse I saw that only chrome and c...

Re: Updates to 18.2: what happens if I update?

Oh, Okay. I don’t remember installing anything MATE, but I am not so sure it never happened, so it must have gone that way. I thought these mate components were belonging to the 18.2 update, hence the title. Speaking of 18.2, will I instead see things differently? I mean, different display manager a...

Re: Updates to 18.2: what happens if I update?

Thanks Pjotr, First of all, I didn’t know the difference between gksudo and sudo, aside from the obvious popup window for the password. I don’t think I ever used it on this system for graphical programs, to be honest I don’t know. Is there a way to check? The document says you "may end up…which can ...

Updates to 18.2: what happens if I update?

I’ve always been keen on updates, since Maya 13, but now with the latest one I sincerely don’t know what to do. I’ve got now these MATE looking files, that update manager wants me to install https://s19.postimg.org/f29hxdv33/Screenshot_from_2017-09-01_08-21-52.png but: For example, do I really need ...

and in fact… I better checked this morning, and yes — that’s the monitor! When I wrote that switching it off/on wasn’t sorting any effect, it was because I was too impatient: in fact, I tried today after a few second and didn’t work, but then when Linux was already loaded, it was already enough to m...

Re: At bootup, memtest flashes and then blank screen.

Little update:
this morning I tried with the USB live key, and got the same effect. No Fast Boot options in the BIOS setup.
Now, I will try to change the graphics card as I’ve been given one recently, I just need to upgrade the PSU first as 400W aren't enough for it.

If it's the same behavior, that would remove your installed OS and associated drivers, as the culprit. This would narrow it down to the video card, or the monitor.

Joe
Oh, Okay, that makes sense! Will do it tomorrow morning.
Thanks!

... the monitor doesn’t say no-signal or similar, so I presume that the computer is sending some sort of (blank) signal. I see your point. This could suggest the video card is the issue then. As if it "wasn't ready" from a cold boot when the OS was, as it is technically a peripheral, but is when it...

Re: At bootup, memtest flashes and then blank screen.

No, I don’t have any time to do anything, it just goes blank right away. For clarity, are you saying that the issue is occurring at the POST stage, prior to Linux Mint even booting? I'm sorry if I missed that fact. Joe Yes, exactly, I am at the Amibios American Megatrends step, I barely have the ti...
