Tor Browser for LMDE

I have very little understanding of computer use. I have been trying to download and install Tor Browser but none of the many instructions on the internet work. Some get as far as the final instruction which produces reaction of multiple dimensions which require the system to be shut down to stop th...

Re: [SOLVED] usb wireless new install lmde3

I have opened the NetworkManager.conf and appended "wifi.scan-rand-mac-address=no". I shut down the system and reopened and the appendment remained as I had hoped. But it made no difference. The USB adapter stills sees the networks but won't connect. Should I be configuring the additional command in...

LMDE3 and WIFI

My WiFi dongles work on two of my machines running LMDE2 but I am devoid of WiFi with LMDE3. I have searched high and low for fixes but none work. The dongles seem to be RT2870 Hours of investigations and attempts have been fruitless. There seems to be advice in the Mint forums that investing in new...

Re: [SOLVED] usb wireless new install lmde3

Thank you but having copied your command line and pasted it into the terminal, I don't know what to do next. The response was to ask me for my password and when I gave it nothing more happened as it seems to expect a further command

Release notes

The release notes concerning PAE support in 32 bit kernel the command lines were apt update apt install linux-headers-686-pae linux-image-686-pae I tried many times and confirmed my reading of the entries. The "install linux-headers..." part of the command produced the response of "has no installati...

Ralink RT2870

The above USB adapter works well on both Betsie and windows 7. As I had some spare room on my Hard Disk I downloaded Cindi (LMDE 3). Installation was no problem but I can't get the WiFi to work. It sees the networks including the one I use (TalkTalk) but as soon as I try to log on it closes when I p...

Re: rlt8192eu.ico

Thanks Jerry. I have decided that these adapters which don't work first time are best for the garbage bin. I have wasted too much time solving adapter installation.

Best wishes

Re: rlt8192eu.ico

Thanks very much. I have decided to abandon the rtl8192. I will go for an adapter which is proven to work on Debian

Best wishes

Please, has anyone installed the above driver for a usb wifi adapter. Nothing seems to work for me. The cd with the adapter seems useless. Two days I have been trying to get the driver installed on my LMDE but go luck. I am not a computer wizard and can just about put in command lines. I like the LM...

Re: No sound, no analog sound device on Dell Optiplex 5050

I had a problem with sound a few years back. I solved it by chance by installing linux-image-686 linux-headers- 686-pae. However I am trying to install LMDE and install the 686 image on one of my machines and am unable to do it either through synoptic package manager or terminal. has anyone got any ...

Moving Grub

I have installed the latest Mint to one of the partitions on my hard drive. I use GAG but GAG will not work unless Grub for Mint is in the Mint partition not MBR.

Please would some kind person let me know the command lines to use to move Grub from MBR to Mint partition

Re: Linux Mint 15 - No Audio

I had a problem some months back. Sound was working then stopped completely. Found out I needed to install the 686 kernel and when I had done the install every thing worked fine. Someone said that if I used 64 bit I would not need to have the 686 kernel. I use LMDE. Since then I have put two of my d...

Re: Wine for 64bit Mint Debian

Hello old chap....sorry I've been out of touch for almost a month. Yes I did keep a copy and if you let me know your e-mail address I will try to e-mail you the file. I have never set up a link so have not a clue how to do it. I installed the file with the file installer provided by LMDE. The proces...
