Re: Wifi not working after installing updates

Your second suggestion worked! Thanks so much! Could you explain why that driver was needed?

Re: Wifi not working after installing updates

Thanks--I do see some network-related updates in there. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a way to export a full list.

[SOLVED] Wifi not working after installing updates

I just ran the automatic updater (is there a way to see retrospectively what all was updated?), restarted, and now my wifi isn't working. After the advice I got last time I doubled-checked, and secure boot is still disabled. Output from some common commands, let me know if I should run anything else...

Re: [SOLVED] Wifi not working after replacing HDD on Linux Mint 19.2

I'm also curious why it got reenabled, since I'm pretty sure I had disabled it. Does installing new hardware reenable it or something?

Re: Wifi not working after replacing HDD on Linux Mint 19.2

Turning off secure boot did the trick! For my own information, why did that work?

No, the only driver I see there is for my graphics card.

Re: [SOLVED] Replaced hard drive on a laptop dual booting Linux Mint and Windows 10, now Linux won't boot

I don't seem to get them anymore. In my Googling I saw posts saying they aren't too worrisome; I was just concerned because I thought they were related to the failure to boot.

[SOLVED] Wifi not working after replacing HDD on Linux Mint 19.2

I recently had the HDD in my dual-booting, dual-drive HP Omen laptop. (Details in this post) I've solved the boot issues I was having and my Linux Mint 19.2 installation is mostly back to the way it was, except I am unable to detect any wifi networks. I had this issue after installing Linux Mint on ...

Re: Replaced hard drive on a laptop dual booting Linux Mint and Windows 10, now Linux won't boot due to ACPI exceptions

I updated the /etc/fstab file on my Linux partition with the UUIDs of the new HDD partitions, and it boots! Thanks!

I noticed I still get the ACPI errors I described earlier, though. Should I be worried?

[SOLVED] Replaced hard drive on a laptop dual booting Linux Mint and Windows 10, now Linux won't boot

I recently got a new laptop (HP Omen) with both a SSD and HDD. An OEM copy Windows of Windows came installed on the SSD, and I installed Linux Mint 19.2 on a separate partition on the SSD. I used the HDD only for storing data. The HDD turned out to be defective, but it was covered by warranty, so I ...

Remapping a special key that is unrecognized by default

I recently purchased a HP Omen laptop and am running Linux Mint 19.2 on it fairly successfully. Most things are working as on my old laptop, except the Omen, somewhat annoyingly, has a special, proprietary key where the Home key should be. On Windows it maps to control center software that lets you ...

Re: Device that formerly mounted with GVFS now mounts with M

When I try that, the Walkman mounts as gphoto2://[usb:002,006]/. When I start Banshee, my Walkman unmounts and is unable to be mounted again even after I quit Banshee, saying something about a camera error (which is strange since it doesn't have a camera)... Ever since my Walkman started mounting as...

Device that formerly mounted with GVFS now mounts with MTP

When I was using an older version of Linux Mint (I believe 14), my Sony Walkman would automatically mount with GVFS and be accessible as a normal external file system. Ever since I installed 17 (and now 17.1), it mounts as an MTP device which is slower and can't be accessed like a normal file system...

Re: Banshee has stopped being able to play music files

My last issue (not being able to get Banshee console output) was because it was still running in the background when I closed the window, so my commands simply reopened the window (I've had some confusion recently over whether it still does that). Here is the output from trying to play tracks after ...

Re: Banshee has stopped being able to play music files

That also did not work...does removing/completely removing them make any difference over reinstalling them? (What I did) Also, after one of the reinstallations, I can no longer run Banshee in command line mode (when I type "banshee" on the command line, it does not block while Banshee is running or ...

Banshee has stopped being able to play music files

I am running Banshee 2.6.2 on Linux Mint 17 64-bit. A few days ago, I discovered I was suddenly unable to play any tracks; it had worked fine the previous day. When I double-click a track or right-click and press "Play", nothing happens. Other functionality of Banshee appears to be unaffected. I can...
