Teamviewer9 on Mint 19.1

Bummer... I have a license for TV9 and runs fine on Mint 18.3 . I fired up a VM of Mint 19.1 to test it out and I noticed that TV9 does not run on it. The latest version of TV does run. I fired up TV9 in a term window to look for errors in loading and got none. Looked a bit thru the logs for TV9 but...

Re: Questions about ddrescue

I do believe that ddrescue is an offshoot of dd. I have just always used dd when cloning drives. It works fine for me. cloning /dev/sda to /dev/sdb dd if=/dev/sda of=/dev/sdb conv=sync, noerror bs=2048 If I want to clone the second partition of /dev/sda only: dd if=/dev/sda2 of=/home/coffee/images/sd...

Re: Recent Mint installation occasionally fails to boot up

If possible, Swap the internal hard drive to the external box and put the ssd in the computer. See if you still have difficulty booting. The objective is to see if your external box is indeed the issue.

Re: Dropbox's New Rules

You can't trust a cloud provider to continue to provide a service. I dropped Dropbox long before it decided to begin a Linux withdrawal. Don't trust cloud services! I echo the same thing to a lot of people. I do not trust "The Cloud" anything. This is your data and it should be kept local at all co...

Re: Recent Mint installation occasionally fails to boot up

What I would do: First rule out the SSD having some issue: Remove the SSD and just put in some spinner drive in it. Install 18.3 and test again. See if your problem is gone. If you have two sticks of ram in it - 2GB each then try checking your memory by taking one out and then test, Then swap the st...

Re: New Smartphone

I have a Galaxy S6 but I do not like it very much. Im also kinda looking around for another phone. I want the memory card slot and serviceability when I crack the screen or whatever. The S6 is a royal pain as its glass front and back. Its not very serviceable although I have never had it apart yet. ...

What I really miss about linux

When linux was just starting out there were all these commercials about it and you could watch them all on places like Utube. Now you never really see any new ones anymore. I miss them. Some where really quite entertaining.

We need more linux advertising videos.

I have a Samsung S6 and using Mint 18.3 and it connects fine. Not exactly what you want to hear but at least you know it does work :) Have you turned on usb debugging on the phone? I do believe that has to be on for it to work. When I plug mine in to the usb port it asks me to allow access. I choose...

Wire-Desktop .... Panel Icon is really small

I use Wire-Desktop for communication to friends. I think this was after a recent wire upgrade that I have noticed the panel icon is really small! Its hard to see any notifications on it. Anyone else using Wire-Desktop have this issue? The wire-desktop icon is part of the notification applet so I can...
