Re: Solved: Upgrade to T'bird 60.2.1 zaps Lightning Calender add-on

I just noticed this problem today and freaked out. I kinda use the calendar for my work. I jumped thru hoops like others here and finally got it working again. However, Then my 'Theme and Fonts' plugin would not load >:( !@X@! Finally after mucking around a bit and reloading the 'Theme and Fonts' I ...

Re: New Smartphone

I have a Galaxy S6 but I do not like it very much. Im also kinda looking around for another phone. I want the memory card slot and serviceability when I crack the screen or whatever. The S6 is a royal pain as its glass front and back. Its not very serviceable although I have never had it apart yet. ...

What I really miss about linux

When linux was just starting out there were all these commercials about it and you could watch them all on places like Utube. Now you never really see any new ones anymore. I miss them. Some where really quite entertaining.

We need more linux advertising videos.

Re: Samsung S6 Phone USB Driver - Toshiba L675 Laptop

I have a Samsung S6 and using Mint 18.3 and it connects fine. Not exactly what you want to hear but at least you know it does work :) Have you turned on usb debugging on the phone? I do believe that has to be on for it to work. When I plug mine in to the usb port it asks me to allow access. I choose...

Wire-Desktop .... Panel Icon is really small

I use Wire-Desktop for communication to friends. I think this was after a recent wire upgrade that I have noticed the panel icon is really small! Its hard to see any notifications on it. Anyone else using Wire-Desktop have this issue? The wire-desktop icon is part of the notification applet so I can...

Re: Just say NO to Mint19

I will add, as a hobbyist and nothing more, that if you company just upgraded from XP long after it went out of support then that does not seem prudent either - cheap maybe . . . I really can't say but that is what occurs to me - again I admit I am way out of my depth. I think your right on target ...

Re: Just say NO to Mint19

A simple post asking about upgrading versions or just searching the forum would have revealed that its not the recommended way to go. I run my own business with many residential customers that I have setup with Linux Mint. They are all running 18.3 . Since they are quite happy there is no reason to ...

Re: webcam not recognised

Well, It certainly does not show up on the USB bus. Incidently, The output of 'dmeg' is your boot up information. Thats where it is going thru and discovering all your devices and setting up memory and other fun stuff. Not too helpful in a case like this unless you run this command: dmesg |grep usb ...

Re: How to Spoil the Stew, and guarantee a new user will never come back

It certainly can be tough out there in some of the forums. I think a lot of beginners will try some advanced flavor of linux and not understand it. Then they ask the noob questions and get the rude replies. After that they gravitate back to windows. I have found LM to be a great forum. Also, LM is p...

Re: MythTV - help needed, please

I run mythtv :) Love it. Infact, My GF has taken it over - lol. Check your storage areas first. Make sure the permissions are correct. Go thru your logs and look for the issue as it says. I set mine up via MythBuntu release that I do not think is supported anymore. When we had it working just right ...

Re: Can't eject Usb pen-drive

So, To my understanding the message that it isnt finished writing to the drive never changes. Its always on and never clears. What I would do is reformat the drive and see if that makes a difference. Do this so we have more info: Open up a term windows and type this in: tail -f /var/log/kern.log The...
