Re: Firefox 3.5.x and cookie preferences not saving

And answering myself.
The setting that caused this was under the "clear history when Firefox closes",
selecting "Site preferences". I guess I should've read the manual
(not that I know this is mentioned in the manual, but anyway...)

[solved] Firefox 3.5.x and cookie preferences not saving

So I just installed Mint 8 and when configuring my Firefox settings I set it to "ask me every time" for cookies and I use the "use my choice for all cookies from this site". But when I reload the browser it always asks for the cookie choice again. I also have this problem on my work machine. Did the...

Re: Sound lost after updates?

Did a full reinstall, deleting all but my /media/data and so far it seems to have lasted thru at least 2 reboots, we will see if it will last longer than last time once I start removing some programs. EDOT: So far, so good. I'm nearly done with the setup and all is well. It's annoying not knowing wh...

Re: Sound lost after updates?

Removed and installed again these:

mint-meta-main [7.0.5]
mint-meta-gnome [7.4.3]
padevchooser [0.9.3-2ubuntu4]
pavucontrol [0.9.7-1ubuntu3]

No help, except I can now run PulseAudio Volume Control again and there under
Output Devices it says Null Output where the device name should be.

Re: Sound lost after updates?

Well, I tried that guide on Ubuntu Forums, I had sound for a moment, but after a reboot it was gone again, now when I try to run "pavucontrol" I get this error: (pavucontrol:4118): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_main_quit: assertion `main_loops != NULL' failed Trying to run PulseAudio Device Chooser from the ...

Re: Sound lost after updates?

I'll have to get back to you on that, but right now it seems the sound loss is totally random and NOT related to the updates as I didn't install any priority 3 updates and my sound still got borked. Anyway, too late to do anything about it today, but I will see if I can get it back up and running to...

Re: Sound lost after updates?

Well, my laptop seems to still have sound after the updates.
The chip on it is Intel Corporation 82801DB/DBL/DBM.

So, this might be related to the chip but who knows.

Re: Sound lost after updates?

It seems I ran into the same issue today, the "successful login" sound plays but after that nothing. I am not quite sure if this happened after updating the system, but it was my first reboot after doing a reinstall on the system, before the reboot it was working fine. I think I will try a reinstall...

Thanks for this great thread! I haven't finished reading it all yet since time doesn't permit that right now (gotta get some sleep before work), so I'm sorry if this has been asked/answered before. I am switching my media machine from XP to Mint 7 and I have a few questions on partitions since I hav...

Re: Linux Mint 7 "Gloria" released!

Lovely!
Thanks to the team behind this release.

I've been adventuring on Debian, Arch, Puppy and Xubuntu for the past month or so, but for some reason
I always found Mint to be the one for me, so I'm returning and this time I think I will install it on my main
media PC as well.

Re: wrong search engine localization in firefox

Here is some nice info on this issue, I used it on Windows to move away from the .se
page I ended up on, I'm in Sweden, but I definetly don't want/need Swedish results, since
my Swedish is bad and no good results come from Sweden anyway :P

Re: Comic reading software

Thanks a bunch, it's been so long since I've used Linux that I wouldn't even know where to
start looking for such things.

Guess now I'll have to figure which one of those is the best one.

Man, you guys are so lucky, I'm still stuck on XP until I can find a 100% sure way to get Warhammer Online (once it's out) to work on Linux, then I can say bye bye to Windows. But hey, at least I'm running Linux on my laptop again, had a 2 year break from Linux due to work and now that I'm back, I f...

Re: flash for firefox?

I just uninstalled flash to see if i could reinstall it. Yes I can. All I did was go to the flash download on adobe.com, download the tgz, unpack it and use the terminal to run ./flashplayer-installer (in that directory) and it asks if ~/.mozilla is the correct directory to install, Yes, perform ot...
