Re: [SOLVED] Extremely Slow WiFi
Great! Glad my old post up there could help you out! Linux mint is what got me into Linux 100% and off dual booting. I've since switched to Arch, but I'm glad for everything along the way.

Re: Custom Mint Live Login
[SOLVED] I finally found the solution here: http://pinguyos.com/2015/09/pinguy-builder-an-app-to-backupremix-buntu/#comment-2336772305 To quote it, The problem is that virtualbox sets up users (vbox_sf for shared folders) as userid 999. But casper (the app that controls the "live cd system"...

Recovery Partition
I use Timeshift to back up my system. This is a total waste. I restored a snapshot successfully, and upon rebooting, I have no networking capability, and sudo is broken, along with plenty of other stuff. I restored several other snapshots- same thing. So Timeshift is actually more harm than it is go...

Re: How to disable password prompts in Mint 14?
Do *NOT* disable the password. Under *no* circumstances whatsoever. Learn the healthy way to work with Linux; don't try to turn it into a security-deficient clone of Windows. Bad advice. Some of us have a reason for disabling all security prompts. In my case, I'm running Mint in a VM that I...

Re: Custom Mint Live Login
I don't think I've modified it, especially after looking at the directions you linked to. Would it be safe to replace the corrupted one with a copy from a fresh Mint ISO? EDIT: From all appearances, there were no changes made to initrd. I rebuilt it anyway, and I come to the same problem every time....

Re: Custom Mint Live Login
I'm still having trouble with this. Is there somewhere else I can ask this question where I might get a slightly quicker response than I have so far here? I tried the usual suggestion of "googling" or "search the forums" but I haven't found any solutions. I still need help with t...

[SOLVED] Custom Mint Live Login
Hello, I followed the guide here: https://community.linuxmint.com/tutorial/view/1784 I've done it completely through twice, very carefully each time, and I have the same problem resulting. When I boot my custom ISO with Virtualbox, it doesn't load as if it's live, but asks me to log in. I have to pr...

How can I dual Boot Mint and TAILS?
Hello, I currently single-boot Linux Mint, and have been doing so for some time now- and love it. I'd like to dual-boot TAILS with Mint. I want TAILS to be live every time I use it, so here's my thought: Install TAILS on a USB, use Clonezilla to copy it, then make a 4GB partition for TAILS to sit, t...

[SOLVED] Extremely Slow WiFi
SOLUTION: It works! I disabled IPV6 and turned off Wi-Fi Power management. I also disabled 11n. I found my solution here: https://sites.google.com/site/easylinuxtipsproject/3#TOC-Speed-up-your-wireless-internet I'll quote it: Speed up your wireless internet 9. For some wireless chipsets, a simple t...

Re: Touchpad drivers
I'm having the same problem. On my netbook, HP Mini 110 on Mint 12 the touchpad worked great. Two-finger scroll, and two-finger "right click" worked well. I never tried three-finger "middle click." I couldn't figure out how to upgrade from 12 to 13, despite using the built-in upd...
