Re: Copy to USB devices slow and problematic

I updated to LM15. Then I followed this post: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/USB_Storage_Devices. But /etc/tmpfiles.d/local.conf was not present, neither the folder. So I created both and I filled the file with the suggested line. I fixed the permissions (rwx/r-x/r-x) Now I can copy to USB sti...

Re: Copying to USB pen drive very slow

I have exactly the same problem and no matter what USB pendrive I use. And like as Claudio described, copying to the external HDD happens in a flash. There is an article on Archlinux (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/USB_Storage_Devices) discussing this problem and suggesting the following fix ...

Re: battery runs really fast

what video card have you got on your sony vaio? I have the same problem but it is due to an overheating problem caused by the default driver (embedded in LM). You should upgrade the driver to the ATI proprietary driver (install fglrx-updates) from software manager. But some users had problems. And t...

Re: Driver Manager is working in LM15? [solved]

Anyway, now it's clear that driver manager shows what proprietary drivers are installed and not what are the available ones (like in LM13).
So I can mark as solved this topic.

Re: Laptop overheating

jgradyc, from what I understood the overheating problem is related to the video card and the default driver embedded in LM. If you can install the fglrx driver you should solve the problem. I was running LM13 I did like that and the overheating disappeared. But now with LM15 Readon 4xxx and 2xxx are...

Re: Driver Manager is working in LM15?

Thanks Alex. Unfortunately I have a ATI RADEON HD 4xxx series and it no longer support by ATI team. So new fglrx drivers are not working for me. But I cannot use the default driver (embedded in LM) since my laptop overheats even in IDLE! In LM13 i installed the proprietary driver (FGLRX) and everyth...

Re: Display after Installing ATI driver stuck at 1024x768

So now I am in funny situation. I cannot install fglrx driver otherwise my display resolution is stuck to 1024x768 but I cannot stay with the default driver because laptop is boiling (overheating problem) In LM13 I was able to install the proprietary driver very easily and resolution was prefect. Bu...

Re: HIGH TEMPERATURE

on LM13 i had the same problem: I solved it just installing the proprietary drivers from AMD via proprietary driver window.
it was very easy.

now in LM15 I was going to do the same but driver manager doesn't seem to work (it is empty and no action can be done).

Driver Manager is working in LM15? [solved]

Hi. I moved few days ago from LM13 KDE to LM15 KDE. Since I have an overheating problem (already seen in LM13) I tried to install the AMD fglrx proprietary driver. In LM13 it was very easy using the proprietary driver window and it solved the overheating problem. While in LM15 driver manager seems n...

Re: Mint KDE 13 touchpad not working

Hi miauriel, Check if you have flagged the option to disable touchpad when another external mouse is plugged in. I enabled this option but the result was I was not able to use my touchpad at all, even when my mouse was unplugged. So I chose the option to disable touchpad for X sec while typing. In t...

Re: Copying to USB pen drive very slow

Hi Ron, I guess we have no such directory. SystemD is a startup process: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Systemd https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Systemd And it is not present in LM13. Maybe it can be starting from LM15, but I'm not sure. So we have to find another way to solve our problem. What is...

Copying to USB pen drive very slow

I'm facing this problem: copying to USB pen drive takes ~3-4 minutes for 300MB!!! (data rate ~1.5MB/s!!!) And this occurs only with USB pen drive: If I copy to an external usb hdd it take few seconds. I think this happens after the last updates. If I remember well last updates were about GRUB & HPLI...

LM 13 KDE: overheating problem

Hi. I have an overheating problem with my sony vaio running LM 13 KDE. Basically starting from the boot I can hear the fans working at high speed and after a while the left part of the laptop becomes hot, even if nothing is running. CPU seems to work ~10% (checked via "top" command or system monitor...

Re: Install Wine on Linux Mint 13 MATE 64 bit

I installed wine 1.4 (only one available through the Software Manager) with no issues on LM13 KDE 64 bits. I can also install windows apps quite easly, I can see them in Wine menu... but I cannot run them! If I try to launch them, I see the right icon jumping but after a while everything desappears ...

Re: Sleep and Hibernate working for you?

At the end I did the following things: 1) disable ATI/AMD drivers 2) add script @ http://thecodecentral.com/2011/01/18/fix-ubuntu-10-10-suspendhibernate-not-working-bug , using "step 2" (not step 2 old) 3) in the previous script, modify line DRIVERS="ehci xhci" using ehci_hcd & xhci_hcd as commented...

Re: Sleep and Hibernate working for you?

I used the script suggested and now the sleep mode works. I had to choose the "step 2 old" since the first one is not working for me. So now my laptop can go in sleep mode and can wake up perfectly and very fast! Unfortunately I still have problem with networks: in fact after resuming ALL the networ...

Re: Network Management Panel not working properly [SOLVED]

I realized that Network Management Panel is showing data activity only when the connection is used (and not just if it is on). So if I'm surfing or downloading, I can see data about my traffic. Otherwise everything is frozen. Don't know if this is how it should work, but to me is more than enough! I...

Hi.
I have the same problem on my sony vaio (LM 13 KDE). Waking up from "sleep" mode becomes a new fresh boot.
Did you make sleep mode work? If yes, may you share your solution?
Thanks,
Claudio:)
