Re: 21.2 update problems - green screen
Same problem for me... I had to backtrack in my kernel to be able to use my computer... :( I kept getting back into the .86 kernel and the green screen so I removed the .86 kernel and using the update manager set it to ignore future upgrades to the .86 kernel. I would sure like to know if this is e...

Re: 21.2 update problems - green screen
NO JOY: The Release Notes for 21.2 has a section titled " Solving freezes during the boot sequence " that sounds similar this problem. Even though I have an AMD video board instead of NVIDIA, I tried the listed fixes to no avail. I gave up and went back to vmlinuz-5.15.0-84-generic. Ironic...

21.2 update problems - green screen
This morning I did the kernel update that arrived yesterday. Now, after I login I get a solid green screen and that's where it stays. the upgrade took the machine from: vmlinuz-5.15.0-84-generic To: vmlinuz-5.15.0-86-generic I rebooted into 84-generic and everything worked correctly, as pre-update. ...

Re: (solved) Febsmart Wifi 6 PCIE (ax200) with NGW (AX3000/Bluetooth)
FWIW - On Manjaro with kernel 5.15-65.1, with Google Speed Test I was getting 55.7mbs download until I changed to kernel 5.19-7.1, which definitely includes iwlwifi at which time my download jumped to 154 Mbps. I pay for 100Mbps service so this is excellent! BTW: I didn't do a modprobe or anything o...

ACL on usb Memory Sticks - how to eliminate
Every usb memory stick that I insert now is read-only due to ACL. I have tried setfacl -b and chown without really obtaining a writable state. Personally, I'd like to totally eliminate ACL, at lease for auto-mounted media and maybe for the whole system. How can I achieve this? System: Host: bergamon...

[SOLVED]: a2p - Awk to Perl translator - Missing??
Eurica! Compiled a2p with sudo cpanm App::a2p AFTER installing missing build utilities with sudo sudo apt install cpanminus. It seems to work. Thanks again catweazel.

Re: a2p - Awk to Perl translator - Missing??
Thanks catweazel. I've git cloned the repository https://github.com/Leont/app-a2p.git but I am unfamiliar with the build system used by the author. NO .config or Makefile. I have no idea how to build it.

Re: rules.d not creating ttyUSB0|1
Since my two USBasp devices are Chinese-made and several years old, I suspect that their FTDI chips are probably counterfiet. I am growing suspicious that FTDI may have inserted their malicious code into Linux. It is widely publicized about what they did to Linux drivers ( http://hackaday.com/2016/0...

rules.d not creating ttyUSB0|1
I have two USBasp AVR/Arduino programmers. Both worked flawlessly on previous Mint versions. I haven't used them for a couple of years and discovered that I couldn't use them on Mint 17.3 because plugging in the USB cable (idVendor=16c0, idProduct=05dc) no longer created a /dev/ttyUSB0. I have tried...

Re: Usbasp programmer
I have two Usbasp programmers, it is the original one - a small black box slightly smaller than a pack of cigarettes. Its USB ID is the same as shown in the Germany link. Both of these used to work fine on previous versions Linux Mint but on 17.3, I cannot get a /dev/ttyUSB0 to be created. I've stru...

My experience is the same as opensourceanonymous. The above referenced post states "So chances are everything is back to normal operation by now." BUT
Still fails for me as of 17:31 East Coast USA time.

Re: gnubiff popup fails
Message 28 at link below fixed it for me.
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugrepo ... bug=718311
Excerpt:
A workaround to the popup height issue:
1 - in line 46 of /usr/share/gnubiff/popup.ui, set the False to True
Log out/login and it is fixed - at least it was for me.

Re: [Solved] installation script error exit status 255 Probl
After untold hours of debugging dpkg files and trigger files, I tracked down the very evil problem. When the bcpp package was installed it installed a copy of itself as /usr/local/bin/cp Whenever the bash command "cp" was executed /usr/local/bin/cp was run instead of the bash builtin "...

[Solved] installation script error - BEWARE of bcpp
A while back I installed bcpp. It is no longer installed and "locate" and "Find" show that it does not exist on my system. Nonetheless, some vestige of it exists and interferes with any and all package installs/removals. Every install/removal hangs until I enter Y in the details ...

Re: Issue with Wine/Eve online
I am researching a similar issue. After upgrading to Mint 17.1, WINE no longer works. From what I have discovered, 17.1 kernel is 3.13 and 16-bit apps are broken there. There is a temporary fix in kernel 3.15 and a permenant fix in 3.16. I think that you and I are currently out of luck. READ: https:...

Re: [SOLVED] Shotwell SendTo email on XFCE
Shotwell only works with Gnome. To use with XFCE you must apply my previously posted fix.bayvista wrote:Shotwell claims that you can Email photos using 'send to'. However on LM16, I get a message 'Unable to launch Send-to.....' Is it something you have to turn on?
